World of Warcraft Lingo. It pokes fun of how Looking For Group function in WoW takes forever to find a group to do a dungeon. LBRS- Lower Black Rock Spire, UBRS- Upper Black Rock Spire, MC - Molten Core, Scholo- Scholomance, Strat- Stratholme, BWL - Blackwing Lair, Naxx - Naxxramas. Back in the old days of WoW some of these dungeons took 40 players to do. So it was incredibly frustrating to try and do and complete. Naxx itself has 14 bosses so it took 6 hours to complete, and even then you had to compete with 39 other people when good gear dropped.

Hence the formation of hardcore raiding guilds. Guilds of 25 + people who raid 5 nights a week for 5-6 hours a night. It really is to this day the only way to progress in end game content on WoW and most of them take it way to seriously and don't treat it like a game. I was in a raiding guild for quite awhile, I have seen the end game content but it gets way to frustrating with internet jerks.

I never played, myself. However, my stepdad was a guild leader or something, and they had a site with messageboards and all that jazz to help plan their raids. He ended up slowing down on his WoW playing because a few core members of the guild got caught up in real life difficulties and ended up not being able to make the raids as frequently. Eventually the guild more or less fell apart and my stepdad didn't feel like trying to muster another big group.
Talking to him about his gaming was interesting for both of us, because it allowed me to see the similarities between multiplayer online games and face to face tabletop games. The experience really comes down to who you play with, and it was interesting to see that getting a good core group together regularly was just as hard online as it is in the face to face world.

There are "old days of WoW"? Isn't the whole thing still kind of new-fangled? :)

Sort of that was 3 years ago. They changed it to 25 man raids now. They thought getting and coordinating 40 people was too much. Like 25 is much better but hey who am I to judge.

Yeah tell me about it I can't get my old game group together cause they all gave up gaming for MMO's. I have all these awesome game ideas ready to play but no one to play with anymore. It makes me sad sometimes.

My brother and his friends that all gave it up--and now are among those raiding guilds mentioned above--prefer the visual impact of MMOs and the fast speed of the action. They also mention the wide variety of stories, but admit that now when they play there isn't much story or questing at all, just scheduling instance-raiding. I can't understand them, as I've never gotten into MMOs myself.
