What is and isn't considered "Core"?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Im slowly getting into Pathfinder, loving everything Ive seen thus far. I know paizo will be releasing more and more as time goes on but Im curious what 3.5 books are considered "Core" to pathfinder outside of the main pathfinder books.

Thanks in advance

None of them, I'm pretty sure. The PFRPG rulebook is the only "core" book (i.e. book that everyone is expected to have in order to play).

Absolutely.
Pathfinder is not a D&D game, that's a game under the OGL, which uses and revisits the SRD.
So technically it's not D&D.
Therefore only the Pathfinder books will be core.

On the other hand, nothing should stop you from having fun with D&D books in your home game. After all, the new rules will be very compatible with the D&D 3.5 ruleset.

I know I will use my old books, no matter what.

If you're dealing with Pathfinder stuff published so far then it is dnd3.5.

For these core is clearly:
Players Handbook
Dungeon Masters' Guide
Monster Manual

The SRD gives you a grey area but much of it (ie. psionics) is clearly not core.

Once the switch is made to PFRPG (Pathfinder RPG) it will be
PFRPG Core Rulebook
PFRPG Bestiary

Of course, I don't work for Paizo, but that seems like a fair bet.

Sounds about right to me!

thanks for the info :)

What?! No plans to do The Quintessential Nerf Herder?

How very disappointing. I mean, who doesn't love splat-book proliferation?

Paizo hates choice. ;-)

Edit: And probably America, too.

Class Feature: None

Trait: Nerf Herder (don't ask, don't tell)

Oh, there will be blood splatbooks.

(Just not "core" splatbooks.)
