Looking for PbP Players: Shadowborn's Wounded Earth Campaign

I will switch to a cleric if it be better party balance. The traits are pretty cool and help build backgrounds. I check the boards several times on weekdays and usually once or twice a weekend,

Liberty's Edge

1- I'm fine with that group, honestly. It means we aren't going to be very heavy on the healing, but we can make due in a pinch. Plus, both the paladins can make use of scrolls and wands if they are available to us and that will help a great deal. As we level(which I know is a long time off in a PbP), I plan on keeping my UMD maxed out too, so while its pretty risky for me to try and use a scroll or wand now, I may be able to be another reliable source of healing in the future.

2- I like the traits system as well, I'm pretty happy with just about all the stuff Paizo puts out. If you decide to go with it, just let me know what sources to choose from and I'll add them in.

3- I'm able to post nearly constantly on the weekdays, as I can idle on the forums from work and I work far too much. Other then late night PST, I am able to be around. The weekends I slow down a lot more however, sundays I have an in person game that runs most of the day and saturdays are always just really busy. Normally on the weekends I am just able to post early morning and just before I crash.

1 - I'm fine as is, but if others wish to use an NPC cleric, I wouldn't have a problem with that either.

2 - Same as Tarlane, just say which ones we are able to use and I'll gladly incorporate them into Leya.

3 - I post post regularly pretty much everyday of the week, though weekends will be slower than weekdays. Once in awhile I might be gone for a day, but I can almost always post right before or right when I get back.

Okay, so for the time being we'll work without a cleric. I like the character concepts we have, so I'd rather people didn't change for the sake of party balance. The paladins and the rogue's UMD should help with healing along with items that come later. Since you have a well-populated village as a base of operations, you'll have access to healers in the event of an emergency. Most actions will be close to home in the early going anyway.

As for traits, we'll use the standard traits, as found in the free download here on the site. I've eliminated/modified the following choices:

Combat: No access to Fencer, Killer, or Resilient
Faith: No access to Child of the Temple
Magic: Change Hedge Magician to "reduce GP cost by 10%"; ignore XP cost
Social: No Child of the Streets, Rich Parents

If anyone would like to use racial traits from other sources, I'll need to see them.

Playtime should be heaviest during the weekdays then. I'm pretty much away from the comp on Sundays, and posting on Saturdays will be light, if any.

I think we can move any further discussion to the thread I've created in the PbP discussion forum. I'll start a thread for the game on Monday morning. We can do some RP and get you guys situated in the village first. I'm starting the campaign a day before the annual Harvest Festival so there will be plenty for you guys to do to get immersed in the setting. I should have backgrounds completely fleshed out by then as well.

Is it possible to join this pbp?

[EDIT: If there is a position open, I would be more than happy to play a cleric.]

Illiana is done.

Absolutely. We'll be starting on Monday. Feel free to roll up a character. Cleric is good, but not necessary if you have something else in mind. If you have any questions about the material presented thus far, let me know.

Looks good. You were reading my mind about the dwarven blacksmith, it seems. I have a few minor changes I'd like to make in your background regarding the fate of your family, but otherwise it looks like she's good to go.

Great. I will work on my character today and will do my best to have it completed tonight.

Thank you!

[EDIT: I am fine with playing a cleric.]

I'm suffering from momentary brain flatulence. What source is the archivist from again?

I think it is in Heroes of Horror. My concept is a healer, but not a secondary warrior like a cleric. More like a divine caster who is similar to a nun, though not in the strict sense of a Catholic nun. Equipped like a wizard, yet casting divine spells.

[EDIT: Or the Mystic from the Dragonlance setting.]

I'm afraid I don't have access to either of those books. I think the priest class from Unearthed Arcana falls along the same lines.

[edit] Actually, what I'm thinking of is the cloistered cleric class.

Is it fine to use the Unearth Arcana variant?

You could play a divine bloodline sorcerer that instead of taking spells from the wiz/sorc spell list takes spells from the cleric list?

Just a thought.

How does that sound Shadowborn?

A celestial bloodline sorcerer that casts divine spells rather than arcane ones?

Thanks Dave!

Yeah, that's what I was trying to get across! =]

A celestial bloodline, not divine bloodline - duh! My bad. :P

I knew exactly what you were trying to say! =]

So...kind of a PF sorcerer version of the Favored Soul class? I like it. Go ahead and run with that idea and let me see what you come up with.

Here is my character.

Can someone please help me with traits?

Okay, traits have been chosen.

Let me know what you want changed. I also forgot to add the racial HPs and favored class bonus. Hp went up by 8 and i added a rank in craft(weaponsmith)

Saori I just noticed you took the Child of the Temple trait, I think that was on the list to not be available. If you got permission then tell me to shut it!

We'll do a final run-through on the discussion thread on Monday.

Saori, nix the Child of the Temple trait. I'll also be tweaking your background slightly to fit specifics in the campaign area.

Ok, I need to back to bed for a while, I think. It's too early on a Sunday for me to be reviewing character sheets.

Sorry I haven't gotten my background up yet, I've been swamped this weekend and haven't had a chance to write one our fully yet. I'll have it up by tonight though.

Ditto.

I'm sorry. D:

No big deal. Like I said, I rarely post on Sundays and not very often on the weekends as a whole. When I get them, I get them. Once I've had a chance to read through them, I'll work out the fine details and let everyone know what we need to adjust.

No, you are quite right. It was a restricted choice. I will change it.

Corrected my mistake.

For the DM:
Hello. I am sorry I haven't posted for awhile. Someone very close to me committed suicide recently and I haven't really been able to get around to posting. To be honest, I am not that keen at the moment, its all quite hard. I am sorry. I need to remove myself from the campaign. Good luck, Arwen.

If there's still room for one more, I'd be interested to join in.

Dark Archive

Hmmm..I think I'll have to watch this pbp unfold...vested interest and all.

It is on hold right now, shadowborn is having internet issues.

Bummer...I'll have to have him fill me in. The Wounded Earth campaign has some interesting twists, you all should have a pretty good time. Btw, just to introduce myself, I co-DM for Shadowborn's crew on the weekends (hence my vested interest in the pbp).

Yargh, I completely missed Saori's post back there, since I haven't been checking this thread since I started the discussion thread for the pbp.

For Saori:
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. You have my deepest condolences. Stay strong.

Nightflier, if you're still interested, it looks like I've got a spot to fill.

Dark Archive

I'm interested! A lot! Give me a moment to read the thread and see what the group needs and what are character creation rules.

Dark Archive

How about ranger or a modified fighter (looses heavy and medium armor, gains 6 skill points progression), half-elf or human, sort of secret agent or a scout of the elves? Is it possible to use Weapon Bond from Iron Heroes (Choose an ability score other than Strength to modify your attacks and damage with the bonded weapon; consider the chosen ability score’s bonus your Strength bonus for these purposes) as a trait or a feet?

Ok, nightflier, you're in. I've reviewed Weapon Bond and it's acceptable as a feat. As for character background, I'd like you to take over Saori's mission. We'll RP you in once you have your character and background written up and approved.

We can move any further talk about this to the discussion thread, I think.

Ok, that said, I'd be open to one more person joining in if anyone is interested. Considering the turnover rate I'm having, it wouldn't hurt to have an extra hand in the party at the moment...

Dark Archive

If you can't find new players, I'd be interested to create another character. I've always wanted to play twins.

I'd be interested if you're looking for someone

Glad to have you, Mark. C'mon over to the discussion thread and we can discuss character concepts.
