Absalom: Cost of Living

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Anyone have an idea about the cost of living (in specific the building ownership and rent costs) in the Ivy Disctrict of Absalom. I searched in the Guide to Absalom but I didn't find't it neither in the adventure Gallery of Evil (in which the district is described). It seems a very elitist district, perhaps as expensive as the Ascendant Court?

If anyone have something about the other wards I will be eternally gratefull.

Thanks in advance and please forgive my poor english.

don't have the book with me, so I don't remember if the Petal district had the Cost of Living, if so I believe it would be as expensive...

if no, the ascension court would be a good guideline.

I know I had this same problem months ago :P

No, Petal District is another that haven't the Cost of Living indicated.

I know Paizo did not detail every district in Absalom with a chart. But, being a DM, I figured that Paizo was allowing us to make our own charts for the other districts.

I seem to recall that Paizo was giving general information so we can shape these districts to fit our own games.

Even with the coins district very well laid out in the book, I do have it being much more hedonistic and morally bankrupt. I didnt want the "feel" of the red silk district to be self contained in a small two-three block area. With the main bazaar of trade in the center of the district, I incorporated the sexual openness of red silk into the bazaar as well. With the locals being de-sensitized to the visual act of sex, it makes for a very unique environment.

In short, I am saying that you should just make up your own costs. :D

Have a good one.

Yes, I have the absolute control in the campaign, but I like to Know the opinion of others in this forum to have a more informated opionion.

The Ivy District seems the MOST opulent of all the wards if you believe the map of Gallery of Evil, and in the Guide to Absalom says that is one of the most expensive places to live. But in wich level? The guide too says that poor artists and people of all conditions live in Ivy.

One more question, what are exactly the medium-low class wards?

westward and eastward, maybe the coins, lower but not that low the Port... very very low... the puddless...

the foreign quarters sounds like a mixture... poorer as they go closer to the puddles and richer as they go closer to Ivy... I see this one as a palce where rich or political foreigns could go to stay close to their own peoples... Petal district I see it dominated by Absolom high classes and those who come from Cheliax and Taldor

I will suppose most poor artist in Ivy are one of 2 kinds, those who live around and go there to try to promote themselves... or living in the studies of patrons, teachers or underthe protection of Sheylin (I suppose only the best and really poor)

Thanks for all Montvale ;)
