Really basic question - skill points

3.5/d20/OGL

Sorry for such a noob question. Well, not really....

Learning 3.5 for the first time.

Tell me about skill points... Fighters for example. They get two skill point per level of advancement. Page 53 of the beta corebook says that humans get one extra skill point per level and that if you level in your favored class, then you get an additional skill point. So, if a human becomes a fighter and declares fighter as his favored class, then he would get a total of 4 skill points per level. Is that right?

Correct. And if said fighter had an Intelligence bonus of +1, he'd get a total of 5 skill points per level.

(And, yeah, it was a pretty 'noob' question, but that's okay -- everybody starts out that way. "There are no stupid questions." 8^)

Any other questions?

And how......

Non-humans have limited favored classes. Can they select a non-favored class, but without the 1 SP per level benefit? Or are there classes that some races just can't be?

Any race can be any class. You are correct they just loose the extra skill point for favored class.

Happy gaming and welcome to the boards,
S.

A quick note: Favoured classes like they are in 3.5 and/or Beta are gone in the final game.

We're not 100% sure about how it will end up, but it's likely that everyone gets to choose any one class as favoured class at level 1 (and that humans and half-elves get a second as their versatility bonus).
