Is it worth it?

Does it allow for far more than what feels like another excuse to run jedi or sith or in this case imperial jedi?

What else does it include?

I can see how it might look that way but I think it's a pretty good book. I've just gotten into the comics and really like them so I guess that colors me somewhat - you've got to dig the era to dig the book.

It covers the Sith and Krayt's Empire as well as Fel's Empire-in-exile, the Jedi and the fringe. It has the typical collection of era-appropriate ships and equipment.

Also, there's a new Destiny mechanic based around playing a descendant of an important historical figure (e.g. the Skywalker destiny or the Binks legacy [just kidding]).

I'm actually getting ready to run two long-time players through a series of Legacy-era games starting tomorrow night. They're both playing Jedi descended from previous characters they've run.

Edit: Heh. Was rendering my opening crawl as I typed that post. Just uploaded to YouTube:

Any chance of an updated link and perhaps let us know how your game turned out?

Ah found it.

Hi,
We played our first session last night - went pretty well. Here's a link to the WotC forum post where I was trying to solicit some advice on it. The last post from me on that thread includes a little update.

I'll try to do a more full session overview later on.

Okay so their master ordered them to flee whilst he fought a Sith only for a group of stormtroopers and a Gungan Sith apprentice were trying to break into the Jedi's ship as they approached.

I was wondering why you didn't have an npc pilot or soldier whose purpose was to fly and maintain the ship since Saga tends towards a limited skill base for such technical skills however having that npc holding off the stormtroopers' whilst they're fighting the sith apprentice seemed logical so that when the gungan sith flees since its hardly going to be Darth Maul junior they'll help the npc drive off the stormtroopers without making it look like that npc is especially powerful and you get the npc be able to contact useful locals without drawing unnecessary attention from the sith as they wouldn't be force sensitive and be able to make the game proceed without too many hangups.

And yes my spelling is awful!

Hi,
I should mention that the PCs do indeed have a pilot/mechanic/use computer NPC in the form of an astromech droid called 4D-WD (and, yes, one of his accessories is a lubrication appendage).

The stormies at the ship were guarding a tech as he downloaded the ship's astrogation logs and attempted to install a lock-out device. WD-4D hid himself and jacked into the computer, managing to delete the location of one of their boltholes before the Imps could get it...so the PCs still have a safe place to flee to.

My goal with the first adventure was to get the PCs away from their master with some thing to do...find the children and take over their training. He's not dead, either, so that gives them something to do later...rescue their master (or maybe even redeem him if he's turned to the Dark Side). These are also setting up some possible destinies (Education, Redemption, Destruction) for later on in the game.

Next time (I assume) they'll go to Ryloth, meet their master's brother, and attempt to retrieve the kids. After that I plan something small at their new hideout, some training interaction, and then maybe a search for a holocron (probably hidden on Ossus, so it'll be a sneaky-sneaky mission) so they can continue their own training. Not sure after that.

Edit: Also wanted to mention that the players loved the Gungan Sith. I know it was over the top but I figured they'd get a kick out of it. They hate him already and I suspect he'll be a recurring nemesis for a while to come. I grabbed a pic of a Gungan from Wookieepedia and photoshopped a red sith saber into it. Guess I did a pretty good job because the players were like, "A Gungan Sith? No way! Where'd you get that picture?" Now I just need to modify the mini with a saber :) I'd really like to paint him red and draw on some Sith tattoos for future encounters.

R2D2 effectively, yes probably one of the best ideas from the series as well as the movies!

Or rescue him, perhaps locating a forgotten relic which they find mentions a holocron dealing with the battle with Exun on Yavin perhaps.

Gungan Sith are on that short list of creatures that make you think, "could I pull this off without the players groaning too much?"

The others I can think off off hand would be Ewoks and Kushiban . . .

For the Legacy camapaign I was going to run, but didn't quite work out, I was going to go with a Gungan bounty hunter, since they actually make decent shooters. I was going to have him taking pot shots at the PCs a few times while they were in fights with other villains, at a range where the Gungan could curse at them for surviving, and still take off before the PCs could kill him.

Here's the pic. Jam Jam Binks, soon to be Darth Bobo, the great-great-great grandspawn of Jar Jar Binks:

See, I was always thinking "Darth Bombad" would be a good Gungan Sith name . . . ;)

Heh. Well. You know. I haven't actually decided on a name for him yet. :)
