Help. How do the orbs of dragonkind work?

Specifically where it says that the possessor gets the AC and save bonuses of the dragon in the orb (being an ancient dragon of the type), what does this mean?

I'd probably just put it as the natural AC and base saves of the dragon would replace the character's own natural AC bonus, if any, and their base save bonuses from their class(es).

Example: 20th level human fighter with the Green Orb of Dragonkind would go from a +0 base natural AC to a +31 from the Orb, and his base saves would go from +12/+6/+6 to +18/+18/+18.

This is just a guess, though.

That was my take. Thanks for the reply
