What's the LA of a Vulpinal?

Contributor

They don't have an LA listed actually, and I'm probably not the best person to judge what a proper LA would be (despite having made them, as odd as that seems) because I've never played around with LAs too terribly much beyond normal planetouched and half-fiends/celestials. The half-arcanaloth lupinal in my current campaign is a freakish deviation from that.

That said, baseline vulpinals are CR 9, with 8 hit dice, and a rather large and diverse set of SLAs and special abilities.

Also, why aren't they guardinals?

Guardinal as a term is WotC IP and closed content that's off limits for use.

Which is also why the vulpinal has the "agathion" subtype--it's our grouping for the animal-like outsiders such as avorals, leonals, and vulpinals.

In the end, you'll have to decide for yourself whether you will allow a vulpinal in your group, and what effective level it will have.

As is the case with any non-core race. The GM is not a robot!
