In preperation for the Eberron Players Guide/Campaign setting coming out over the next couple of months, I thought it would be interesting to look at
a) what has come out already for Eberron
b) what we feel is left
c) what we would like to see come out in the free previews from WoTC this month.
Already Out
1. Dragon 364: Playing Warforged, Expeditionary Dispatches: Forest of Flesh
2. Dragon 365: Artificer Preview, Expeditionary Dispatches: Dolurrh's Dawn
3. Dragon 367: Expeditionary Dispatches: Janus Gull
4. Dragon 368: Backdrop: Graywall, Expeditionary Dispatches: Stillwater Station
5. Dragon 370: Origin Stories (Not exclusively Eberron)
6. Dragon 375: Expeditionary Dispatches: Lightning Rail article
Most of the races have appeared as well.
On his blog, Keith Baker has even talked (at a high level) about the role of House Jorasco in a game system where healing (of hit points) is not as big an issue as it was in earlier versions.
What's to come
1. Kalashtar
2. Certain iconic monsters/creatures: Daelkyr, Dolghaunt, Dolgrim, Inspired, Quori, The Lord of Blades, Living Spells
3. Dragonmarks
4. Additional Shifter types
5. Changelings
6. Explanation on how new races (Dragonborn, Tiefling, Eladrin) are to be included.
Assuming it follows the same structure, we should be expecting approx. 7 preview articles between now and the release of the player's guide.
I think the ones I am most interested in Dragonmarks and the integration of the new races into Eberron.

They might also normalize the Eberron cosmology to make it fit the new D&D4 cosmology.
That's one of the common points of all the 4th edition worlds (although there are not many left), to make them as compatible as possible.
I would think (hope) that this would be quite difficult to do with Eberron, given how much the religion is tied into the political structure of Eberron.

I'm surprised there has been little to no development of Eberron in the D&D Insider content before now, aside from Expeditionay Dispatches; the only two crunchy articles were in the first two Insider issues of DRAGON.
I am looking forward to having fleshed-out Doppleganger/Changelings and Kalashtar to use. I assume that dragonmarks will be implemented as "multiclass" options in a manner similar to spellscars in the Realms.
I hope they don't rearrange the planes to fit the 4E cosmology, but they've already sown the seeds for doing so in the Eberron conversion for H1:
Also called the Plane of Shadow, the Shadowfell encompasses both Dolurrh, the Realm of the Dead, and a region of shadows and despair called Mabar, the Endless Night.

I'm sorry, but do you know any of the specific articles in his blog that mention this? I've been looking, but I'm apparently missing where it is.

The link is here These comments were made a long time almost a year ago, so some information may be different now.
His main point seems to be that, while PC's may not need to go to House Jorasco for healing (they could still go for addressing disease and possibly curses), the ability to heal at an accelerated rate is not shared by the general populace of NPCs. So there would still be a role for House Jorasco in the world of Eberron.
He later goes on to give an on-the-fly example of how to use the Disease track from 4e to create physical injuries such as a broken arm.
I remember reading that at the time and thinking about how the same process could be used to create some of the effects that were shown in Heroes of Horror, etc. Create an Insanity track that PCs are affected by once they encounter certain atrocities, monsters, etc.

Thanks.
No problem!
I really like Eberron and I am excited that the 4e version is finally coming out. A small part of me is worried that they would totally change everything, but I am hoping that givent hat fact that Eberron is still relatively 'new' as a campaign setting, that they will leave most of it alone :)

I don't like Eberron, and I detest Warforged.
That being said, I deliberately bought the Steel metal dice the other day just so I could play one! I already got the miniature! Wheee! Can't wait!
My, how the arrogant have crumbled. Teehee!
