Hey all. Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but here goes. I have signed on for a Tier 1 for GenCon, but was too late to get a share of a room. Things are a bit tight budget wise and I was wondering if there is anyone out there who is "definitely" going who has room ... in their room? I know there might be a cancellation and could possibly snag a 1/4 of a room, but that depends on where I am on the waiting list and a lot of luck. I don't put much stock in luck and would rather make my own arrangements rather than wait till a few days before the con and roll the dice. I'm not looking to freeload, I'm going to pay my share, but even a 50/50 split would be preferable to footing the bill myself. I'm clean and quiet and do my best to stay out of the way if that helps any :)
If this is a possibility for you, please leave me a way to contact you here. Thanks a heap!

No, I'm going to handle that via email. I did it last year and only 15% of the GMs showed up (mainly because they didn't arrive until Thursday) so I'm convinced the better way to handle it is with a detailed email and a thread to answer questions in.
Josh... any word on when we are going to see the rules? I am starting to worry about getting them in time for the convention.

Are we going to have a Wednesday night meetup to go over anything?
We can set up out own if you want... Just make sure Alcohol is involved ;-)

So, raise your hand if you are doing the Interactive Friday and/or Saturday night? (Hopefully both!)
Volunteers represent!
"Doing?" Do you mean playing in or running?
I'm hoping to do a little of both - I'll be helping out with Friday night, but I'm hoping to get to play on Saturday...

While I'd never mind hearing from everyone who's interested, I was particularly looking for those who are volunteering to run the events.
(And, for full disclosure, I am trying to drum up support and interest in volunteering for any unfilled slots for the events.)

You'll have the rules in about 3 weeks and the scenarios in about 4.
...but not until you commit to volunteering for the Friday and Saturday Night Interactive.

Sorry to bug you on this... But are you Mailing the rules in three weeks?... Or did you decide that it would cost you guys too much to mail them and just sending the PDF? If you guys are still mailing them, if you are sending them in 3 weeks, There is no way I will get them before Gen Con.

We'll be distributing low-resolution, copy-protected, black & white PDFs of the rules to the GMs after they sign a digital NDA. Details forthcoming.
eeeek... 500+ page PDF... my eyes are not going to be happy.. ;-).
Though I understand why you are going the PDF route over the original Idea of sending printed copies out *eating the Shipping charges would be a killer*. It is going to be rough reading a PDF of that size. I can see my future headache now... I am getting one thinking about it..

How low-res is 'low-res'? I'm thinking of printing out a page or two for the Con so any players that don't have the book yet can go over the more 'challenging' rules.

Joshua J. Frost |

All GMs who run 2 or more slots at Gen Con will get a B&W low-res PDF copy of the rules before Gen Con. Low-res means when you print it out the art will be worthless, but the tables and words are still readable.
All GMs who run 8 or more slots at Gen Con will get a free hardcopy of the rules at Gen Con autographed by Jason.

Especially the cost of shipping a binder full of paper overseas and the fact that we'd need to start shipping them NOW (something we're not prepared to do by any stretch of the imagination).

Will the NDA allow us to learn the game by running it with our Gaming group?

Hey Daigle, I don't know what I'm doing but I'm doing it thur-fri-sat night (As well as in the AM). If Mr.Frost hasn't already assigned me to it, Id be happy to help out. Had a blast with the PaizoCon interactive.

Josh I just sent you an email. As time has freed up and such. I also would really like to help run the interactive as well.

Nothing really. It's a arbitrary date that coincides with the ETA that Josh gave us for stuff going out...

Yay! My boss approved the time off and I'm Gen Con bound. (fingers crossed she doesn't pull shennanigans on me later)
This time both my buddy and I both want to really try a Pathfinder Society game.
Since there was some snafu with pregen characters at Origins (that got fixed before my 'other' buds bailed on me for the session - grumble) I'll ask - Will there be pregen PF characters using the final rules? Any level will do. Don't want to waste any game time!

Yes... Josh will be bringing pregen... But why not make your own?

We could, but it'd have to be Beta then cleaned up a bit.
When I hit Origins with some other friends we signed up for several different games to try out. The time/desire to start up PF Society characters was low with them. Especially after wasting an hour at our 1st session (Blackmoor) doing exactly that without enough books to go around.
Basically, laziness on our part. 'til we get the bug.

few of things
Stay away from Beta... The GMs will be familiar with PFRPG not Beta.
If you can make it Thursday morning from 8-12, That whole slot will be used for Character Making and Conversion, so if you can make It I would suggest you come up with a Character Concept in 3.5 so you know where you are going with it and then come Thursday morning with the character so the GMs can help you convert.
If you decide to just play a pregen, there is the possibility you would lose all those points for your character, though Josh may have rules on that.
I personally think it would be much better to come with your own character then a use a Pregen because the character would be your own, and if you and your friends decided to stick with the society you have the characters already with the Exp gained from GenCon.
Even if you can't make it Thursday morning you can still arrive before a game, and I am sure you can find someone to help you convert

Thx for the points. We may not make it there 'til Friday morning. I'll see what my buddy wants to do. He may drag his butt about playing 1st level characters. Too much about 'what you are and what you can do' than 'who you are'. A partial result of us jumping btwn 5 game systems, and being a bit overwhelmed going back to square one.

Something to remember is that the guidelines for PF Society will be out before Gen Con. Although you won't have the book to create characters you'll have a general idea of what you want to play. Use the guidelines to work up your stats so you can have that out of the way and ready to insert. It's amazing how many will show up and spend about 15 mins trying to decide on what stats they want to have for the character. Pick out what region you want the character to be from also. For the most part, just use the guide to get a lot of the background work done before you get to the convention and then all you'll have to figure out will be skills, feats, and equipment.

Updated volunteer needs! We have all the GMs we need now for the Friday and Saturday night interactives and we have more than enough GMs based on tickets pre-sold. Our remaining openings for volunteers are to insure we have every table available for play during each slot for generic ticket holders and on-site ticket purchases.

Thanks to all you folks who have volunteered, especially you fine folks who are choosing to spend Friday and Saturday night under the thumb of Josh, Tim and myself! The event is shaping up nicely and I truly think everyone will have a blast!
Hey Daigle, just got my schedule. Looks like I will be helping with the interactive on Friday night. Is there anything I can start helping with now, or researching to better be able to assist when the time arrives?
