Is it generally assumed that late teen-to-young adult 1st-level Shoanti PCs have already gone through their rites of passage?
Or do I need to go back to the Cinderlands to get my GED?
Totally up to your and your GM. If you both think that'd be a fun angle, going back to get your barbarian GED could be really fun adventure - if somewhat of a culture shock for your non-Shoanti companions. If neither of you want to deal with it, though, there's no problem with saying you did it already. Could make a need angle in your back story as well.

Thanks! I was really mainly wondering if it was the norm to assume it was already done, since it would affect my character's behavior. I don't think I'll have the opportunity to go back home during this campaign, so I'll just ask my GM if it's okay to assume she's already gone through her trials.
