Replacing Sunblade

I am running City of Broken Idols in Dungeon 145. Due to role-playing purposes I won't get into I need to replace the Sunblade in the volcanic grotto. I was thinking of replacing it with Demonfoe from Dragon 356 companion article but am a little afraid that it may be to early and could unbalance the group. One of the PC's has taken totemic demon slayer, so combining the two would be a rather devastating PC. On the other hand I am a little worried about the Khala fight. Any suggestions out there about a replacement? Anyone find the Khala fight particularly difficult or easy?

I don't know... a Demon slaying weapon in the midst of a demonic temple doesn't really jive all that well. Your PC's are going to find that the Sunblade is REALLY usefull later on in the AP, especially during parts of Into the Maw.

But if Demonfoe is the blade that the Mercane can sell it's no worse than a Sacred, Bane, or Holy weapon. The totemic Demonslayer is nice, but not great. I'd be more worried if you allowed the Demonwrecker PrC from Exp. to the Demonweb Pits.

Khala and Xerkimat are a nasty combo and a little edge for the PC's won't hurt much if you play the BBEG's intelligently.

Agree with primemover... the Khala fight is a very tough challenge, and we have a totemic demonslayer in our group as well. Giving them a little more oomph is probably not unwise.
