So Sly Stallone is directing and starring in a new movie called The Expendables. Not much has been revealed abou he film so far, but it is about a team of mercenaries that are trying to overthrow a South American dictator, and Arnold Schwarzenegger will have a small role as...the governer of California. The film also stars Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Forest Whitaker, and Mickey Rourke.

Pshaw, what is the matter with you people??
That line-up sounds awesome.
Y'know, if a bad movie is enjoyable, it isn't a bad movie.
I agree I happen to like all of those actors. Granted outside Jet li and, ROurke in Sin City, they all are notorious for craptastic movies, I also usually like said craptastic movies. So a cheesy action flick with that much cheese? Man thats gonna be one awesomely bad movie thatll be hard to hate.

A movie like this could go either way, really. I think that if they try to make a serious, 80's style action movie with these guys, that it will probably be terrible. Seriously, if Commando came out today, it would be a laughingstock. It would probably make a boatload of money, but it would be ridiculous.
HOWEVER...
If they make an action movie with a sense of irony and fun to it. And they make it knowing that there's a level of ridiculousness in these guys making an action movie, then I think that here's a VERY good potential for awesomeness here. I'm thinking something more in the style of "Tropic Thunder", than "Fast and the Furious, Part Whatever: Who Gives a CRAP?".
I have hope. I think Sly has some real writing and directing chops. And the choice to put the Governator in, as the Governator, is a really good sign that they're going for the ironic laugh. Which is the right direction, IMO.
