The wasteland is perilous, with many magical creatures. There used to be forts along the routes; maybe we could use them as we go. ... When do we go?
"Do we have any idea of how long this journey may take? Even with these provisions, I still think it may be a good idea to prepare at least one spell for water. Wastelands can be dangerous for those unprepared, even druids."

"Flint, I have access to spells that will provide us water for our journey, but none that will help us deal with water in other way."
"And to voice my opinion in answer to Ivan's question, I feel that we should rest for another night and leave in the morning. Some in the party could use more time to rest and heal with my assistance."

Monty Haul |

As Ivan, Garret, Anyssa and Eland finish their meal and head back towards the warehouse, Ashwyn catches Garret's eye.
"You wished to speak with me?" he asks, inviting the halfling back into the kitchen with a gesture. "I have a few moments."
I'll assume the rest of you are returning to the warehouse. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to do tonight (it's currently early evening). If you wish to leave the city, you're going to need some legitimate reason, or alternatively some forged documents and/or a bribe to the right guard.

Garret Highhill |

"Alright. The rest of you go on ahead."

Damandor will substitute his Bless spell with a Cure Light Wounds spell and cast it on Grunthor.
Damandor approaches Grunthor and speaks a few whispered words in a language that Gruntor cannot understand, and then lays one of his hands on Grunthor. Cure Light Wounds: 1d8+1=8
I believe that should get Grunthor back up to full hp. I also believe that everyone else should be back up to full. If I'm incorrect then let me know, and I can do heal checks to assist in curing the last few hit point everyone is down.

"At the moment I'm not aware of a valid reason that the guards would accept for letting us out of the city, or where we could get papers, valid or not, to allow us to leave. I will ponder this during my evening study and meditation."
After seeing to Grunthor and any other party members that may be wounded still, he will sit down and begin his study of the tome that they found. Later he will then spend an hour in meditation before resting for the evening.

Garret:

Ivan wants to know who has been outside the city besides him.
"Underground for most of my life and the forests above for the last 2 years. I only came into town for herbs that couldn't be found in the forest."
Don't know how well he knows the forest though it may not matter if we're traveling through a wasteland.

Damandor Yolanux |

Damandor continues to study the tome that they recovered from the crate while awaiting the return of the others.
He looks up briefly to answer Ivan's question and says, "I have lived here my whole life, and unfortunately, have little knowledge of the lands outside the city."

You have limited options, mostly illegal, if you wish to leave the city. You would need some kind of paperwork to allow you out of the gates. Either a letter from Ashwyn authorising you to be gone for a week, or perhaps forged documents indicating that you work in the mines west of the city. Alternatively, you could pose as visitors to the city and try and leave through the eastern gate through the foreign quarter. Finally, if all else fails, you could try and climb the city walls. They are high and patrolled, but the warehouse you are staying in is close up to the edge of the city - if you were to get a ladder onto the roof you may be able to climb up and lower each other down the other side by rope.
Sander's Point is apparently further up the coast and shouldn't be too hard to find. However, in terms of locating C'erat Mour, none of you have any idea where it would be and the wasteland is a big place. You would need to ask around or do some other kind of research if you wanted to learn its exact location.

Garret Highhill |

Lets see, I probably could convince the guards that we're tourists, but how many of us have a decent chance of Aiding Another on Bluff? I don't think I'm going to roll very well... Anyway, climbing over the wall could make a decent last resort. I'm a bit leery of having Ashwyn say we're working for him, since if they get any information on us, it's going to just lead right back to him.

Damandor Yolanux |

I've come up with an idea that Damandor may be able to present. I've asked for some details from our GM and I'm awaiting his reply. If you would like to read what I have asked for and the idea that Damandor may be able to present, see my post on the discussion thread here.

Damandor says, "I believe that I could get papers saying that we are on a pilgrimage to the shrine of Corellon to the south of Bastion, but with the lack of reverence the the leaders of the city hold for Corellon, I doubt that alone would be enough to get us out of the city. We still may need to negotiate and/or bribe our way out. I would be willing to use some of the money we found at Antius' house for a bribe if needed."
"I myself am not practiced in the art of negotiation, but I may be able aid whichever of us is best at speaking, and also with some help from Corellon, hinder the guard at the gate we must speak to, but to prepare for this I will need time to prepare and we will need to wait until tomorrow morning. I will also need to get the nessasary documents from Theriandor. What say ye, is it a good idea?"
As we approach the gate Damandor can cast Guidance on the whole party, giving a +1 to Bluff or Diplomacy checks, and to the rest of the party trying to aid the speaker. Also, Damandor can perhaps do some things to hinder the counter checks of the guard that we are speaking to.
Edit: Monty, I realized that I can't make an untrained Knowledge (Local) check, but looks like it didn't matter anyway. Thanks.

Damandor:

Damandor Yolanux |

Well, every who has responded so far seems to like the plan put forth by Damandor. I am going to go ahead and post as if we are going with that plan. I need everyone to let me know what role you are going to play in the "pilgrimage", for example: guard, servant, etc. I think that Garret should be the person to speak for the party when we are at the gate, Damandor just needs to be the one to hand the papers to the guard that we speak to.
Damandor will go to Theriandor at the Shrine of Corellon and explain the plan that they have put together to get out of the city. He will ask Theriandor if he will prepare a letter stating that they are going on a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Corellon to the south of Bastion. He also requests that it list each person in the party and what their purpose in joining the pilgrimage is.
Once, he returns with the letter, he will return to the warehouse and at the appropriate time will perform his daily meditation and study. He will also spend some of that time studying the tome from the crate.
Damandor's Prepared Spells: 0 - Guidance, Stabilize, Virtue; 1st - Doom, Obscuring Mist

Monty Haul |

Damandor returns to the temple to get the necessary papers from Theriandor, authorising your exit from the city for a religious pilgrimage. Damandor, Eland and Ivan are identified as the pilgrims, accompanied by their servants Anyssa and Garret. Flint and Grunthor are described as guards. Coming from the temple of Corellon, the documents should carry some weight, however it is always possible a cleric of Hextor or one of the Warlord's men could cause trouble, despite your authorisation.
You can purchase any supplies you wish through the day - caravans in general leave from the foreign quarter and the usual sorts of things one might need for travel can be found there.
At this stage, none of you know where exactly where C'erat Mour is located, just that it is in the wasteland. One plan might be to follow the coast to Sander's Point and then ask around from there. Alternatively, you'll need to get the exact directions from somewhere in the city before you leave.

Damandor Yolanux |

Damandor so wrapped up in his preparations to get the grop of adventurers out of the city, finally realizes that he shouldn't have left it up to the others to gather supplies for him.
Leaving the warehouse late in the afternoon he quickly gathers some food stuffs for the journey.
Damandor buys eight days of rations at a cost of 4 gp.

Damandor Yolanux |

The following morning, all preparations have been made and all are ready to go. The party leaves the warehouse in groups of one or two as to appear less obvious when leaving the building that has become their temporary headquarters.
They meet a couple of streets over in front of a bakery that they have all seen in their comings and goings.
Once together, the they start for the western gate to the city. Damandor's mood although a bit somber at the prospects of trying to get out of the city, also has a bit of a gleem in his eye and a slight smile at the excitement of being on the move again.
Damandor vigilent as ever keeps an eye and ear out for any trouble that might be coming their way. Perception (sight) and Perception (sound) checks: 1d20+4=13, 1d20+4=8 Shucks! Looks as if the morning noise of the city is too much for Damandor to notice anything out of the ordinary.
Once the party is about 100 feet from the gate, Damandor leads them to the side of the street and takes some time to study the guards at the gate. He is looking to see if there is one particular guard or official that is checking the papers of those leaving the city. As he does this he gives some instruction to the rest of the party. Perception (sight): 1d20+4=20 Yes!
Monty, what if anything does Damandor notice?

Anyssa the Clumsy |

Anyssa, I'll go half with you if you want to get a mule and packsaddle, The mule would be a total of 8 gp and the packsaddle another 5. Feed for him would be cheap, but a bit weighty, 5cp/day and 10 lbs.
"I would and gladly. But I only have seven gold total left of my own money."

Anyssa the Clumsy |

anyssa wrote:"I would and gladly. But I only have seven gold total left of my own money."6gp would be enough if you can go with that.
Don't forget the 20 gp that Antius gave us.
Which she gave to her family. On the theory that they needed it more than she did.
"Okay, well I have six gold." She'll hand over the money since he seems to know what arrangements and such to make and she hasn't the faintest clue about livestock.

Monty Haul |

Apologies to all - my computer hasnt been able to log onto Paizo for more than a couple of minutes this week.. :(
Having purchased supplies and a small donkey to carry them, you spend one final night in Antius's warehouse before heading out early the next day. Grunthor's large sword is concealed beneath the packs, strapped along the donkey's back. Although not visible to a casual inspection, it will be relatively easy to find if anyone searches thoroughly.
Dawn is just breaking as you make your way through the twisted streets of the slums. You have Theriandor's letter with you - hopefully your pass out of the city, but for now you have to join the long line of lowlifes who file through the western gate each morning. Most of them are miners, who spend their days working the hills just outside of town. The line is long and slow moving, up ahead Damandor can see a priest of Hextor inspecting the paperwork of everyone passing through the gates - he lets most through with the briefest of challenges although from time to time he asks a few questions before allowing people to leave.
You queue for close to an hour, although the dark stormclouds threaten rain, you are at least spared that discomfort for now as you inch ever closer to the gate. From time to time, a party of guards or citizens approach the gate directly, the cleric ceasing his interrogation of Bastion's lowlifes to inspect their papers before waving them through.
Can I ask who is planning on doing the talking? Also - I presume Eland has the scrolls, Damandor the book. Who is carrying the iron bar, the sword and the two potions of cure light wounds?

Damandor Yolanux |

As the party is waiting in line, Damandor speaks a few words in the language that he uses when casting spells and then touches Garret. He then repeats the process for each of the party members including himself.
Damandor casts Guidance on each of the party members. That gives everyone in the party a +1 to an attack, save, or skill check. It lasts until the player chooses to use it, or 1 minute. Damandor would have waited until they were close enough to ensure that the spell could be used.
Damandor, then waiting until the cleric is distracted checking someones papers, summons his courage. He holds his holy symbol in one hand and gestures with his other while chanting quietly.
Damandor casts Doom on the Cleric of Hextor. The cleric gets a will save, DC 13. If he doesn't save he take a -2 to attack, damage, save and skill checks.
Damandor has the tome, and perhaps the potions as I was the last person to examine them. If someone else would like to carry the potions that is fine, maybe our front line people? As best I can determine, Garret was the last one to have the key to the crate, as he was the one who opened it. Eland had the letters, the scrolls, and the metal bar. The pouch with the gold and silver, and Selenial I'm not sure who has spoken for those. I would be willing to keep Selenial wrapped up in my bedroll, out of sight, and store the coins in my pack if that is acceptable to everyone else.
Also, as I stated in a previous post, I think it would be best for Garret to speak for the group, aided by the rest of us.

Garret Highhill |

Garret walks up to the cleric's desk and clears his throat. "Uh, excuse me guv'ner."
So, the plan is I tell the cleric we're going on a pilgrimage while acting like I just came out of the Shire to guard against suspicion, while the rest of you Aid Another by acting like pilgrims/guards. Right?

Yes, that would be the plan. Also, Damandor has the paper's from Theriandor and if asked for them, will hand them to the cleric.

This bluff begins now.
"Well sir, Master Damandor here is leading a pilgrimage to another temple of Corellon Larenthian, and may we please pass through this gate guv'ner?"
Bluff: 13 Everyone, quickly! Aid Another!

And of course I roll a 20. Not to be mean or anything, but I wish I hadn't used up a 20, because now I will not get one from IC for a week! ;p
Flint tries to very hard help Garret and does well(especially for a dwarf!). He hopes he at least maked the story seem more truthful.
