Video games, Pathfinder, and the Nintendo DS

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I've been wondering if Paizo has thought about making a Pathfinder video game for mediums other than the PC. Specifically I thought of the Nintendo DS. It seems to me that Paizo could make an excellent DS game that could have the look and feel of the old Infinity Engine games(Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Etc.) but have a Pathfinder setting and story. There are a lot of DS's in the U.S. alone and it seems a good way to increase brand awareness and make a good video RPG for those of us that play them.

Paizo is not in the computer game business, and has no plans to be... but we're open to talking to professional companies who are interested in publishing such a project!

Bioware did an excellent job producing these games, and Baldur's Gate II remains my favorite game of all time. In fact, it's the reason I started playing D&D many years ago.

Since some of the biggest strengths of those games were story, setting, and dialogue, I have no doubt that if Paizo worked in-house to help develop such a game, it would be a huge hit. I hope that this ends up happening, as it would be a great way for Paizo to showcase its new campaign setting and draw new gamers into the Pathfinder brand.

Well, there isn't even a game announced for the PC, so one thing after the other (though not necessarily in that order).

Depending on what form the game would take, DS (and Wii! Don't forget the Wii!) could really work, but if it's a game anywhere near NWN (1, not 2!) or the Baldur's Gate series, I think PC works best.

Note, though, that Paizo is not a computer game company. It would have to be outsourced. Let's pester Blizzard until they agree to do it!

edit: Ninjaed!

A NWN or NWN2 fan mod Built by a callaberative group from the community could be very cool.

I should clarify, I realize that Paizo does not make video games. I was just curious if the idea was being batted around. I think it would be a good way of expanding the brand name. People like having games on the go. There are over twenty million DS's in the U.S. and console's sell higher numbers of copies of individual games (in general) than PCs. Although I think there is room for games for PCs, consoles and handhelds.

Too much expansion, is a bad thing for a company, I'd rather they stuck with what they've got planned so far, not that I wouldn't kill an man or kobold for their PC/DS game, I just don't want them to overextend themselves. I plan to play for years, using this company.

I second zombieneighbours idea, pathfinder wiki is coming together, so the community could totally pull it off.

We have not seriously been approached yet.
