Developing the Iconics?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Liberty's Edge

So I was wondering if anyone had played any of the Pathfinder Iconics for a substantial part of an ongoing campaign. If so, how'd it go? Did any of their adventures in your campaign change them unexpectedly from their roots?

My group is in the process of creating characters for RotRL. One player is planning on playing Ezren, and another is considering Lem.

Sort of. Due to CPS (Chronic Player Shortage), I usually have support characters that will accompany the party in case we have very few players (i.e. 2) or important roles have not been filled.

In my current Curse of the Crimson Throne campaign, there's just one support GMNPC, Lyra the Pious (LG female human cleric of Abadar, looks just like the priestess in the PF#8 Abadar article), but last campaign (Rise of the Runelords), I used the first batch of iconics: Valeros, Merisiel, Kyra and Seoni. After the party got a fort to spend the winter, they showed up and asked to join them, helping with the administration and so on.

That way, whenever a player was absent and a role was unfilled (the party consisted of cleric, wizard, rogue, fighter), the corresponding iconic would accompany them for that session, as a sort of understudy.

They were kept mostly in the background (didn't want my GMNPC to steal the spot light), but when I roleplayed them, I stuck to their original character.
