Hi,
Need some input. First off, I'm probably a little harsher as a DM than most of the people who seem to post on here. However, I do try to be fair. So, need some input on how long Ameiko is likely to have before being done in.
The party took too long to get to Tsuto and let a goblin get away to warn him, so he escaped. They ended up taking a different turn in the tunnels, so he got away clean. They pursued him to Thistletop the next morning and failed in their assault on the stockade, retreating back to town. So, everyone knew they were there. The waited the entire next day and assaulted the stockade in the early morning hours of the day after, taking out the goblins. Now, they're pondering waiting another 8 hours before heading in again for their spellcasters to regain spells and the like. Now, if they go in right away, Ameiko is still alive. But I'm pondering if I should have her be sacrificed if they wait another 8 hours.
Thoughts?

well i don't have my copy in front of me, but my logic says you have 2 ways to possibly approach this (and more). One option is that they sac her and move on, and if they waited this long is not unreasonable. But the logical way to not only give her a second chance, but make it more realistic, would be for the remaining villians in that time frame realize the pcs had been there and prepare for another assault. This will be hard on the pcs but if you want realism this seems more likely. The bright side to this approach is Amekio would be thrown in a cell/room and locked away until the pesky do gooders were dealt with and there was plenty of sacrafice time :P Just my thoughts.

The services happen once every week (p. 49) with one or two people sacrificed each service. I'm going to guess that this is every Moonday at dusk. Do you track which day of the week it is? That might solve your problem.
Tsuto got away with Ameiko in my campaign too, but I decided that his evident brotherly affection for her was enough that he made sure that at the next service some other prisoners were sacrificed instead of his sister, and this actually set him on a long, slow road toward possible redemption. It remains to be seen if this will be realized, but it's an interesting journey. :)

This party of mine doesn't do redemption. They do dead people.

Ah I know these parties. As Tbug said, if it's not sacrifice day then they have until then. I would still go with them being on high alert if Tsuto already ran once, AND they already assaulted and retreated I still think they might be in some trouble. But that's me.

When they were approached with the note by the halfling, my party was paranoid about Ameiko and Tsuto were in it together. Needless to say they goofed around investigating the Catacombs of Wrath for like 5 days and doing a side trek adventure which would take anyone else a few hours to accomplish but NOOOOOOO not my party. Anyway, when they finally got to the altar they found her already dead (a couple days) and they were like, "oh maybe she wasnt in it with her brother."

The way I read it, Tsuto honestly expected Ameiko to side with him against Lonjiku, and when she declined to assist in his murder Tsuto panicked and gave her to his girlfriend. Ameiko had treated Tsuto as family, and I think that she was his one source of actual family love during his upbringing, moreso even than his mother. I think that Nualia's cold-hearted decision to simply sacrifice Ameiko to Lamashtu has got to have Tsuto wondering if he can somehow save his big sister from his sweetie.

I agree that it would definately be a moral conflict for him and if your interested in a conflicted villian I would even rule that he secretly sabotages her sacrifice by having the pcs assault Thistletop. In doing so he can let his sister go and look like hes still on Nualia's side. He would probably want her to escape and try to convince her to run away with him and could lead to a very cool scene in which they are arguing when the pcs arrive. Just my thoughts :P

Tsuto was part of the ambush that hit the party when they went below ground. He single-handedly beat down the fighter PC before getting dropped by a wand of shocking grasp. The party made sure everyone BUT Tsuto was dead, but when they took on Nualia, his unconscious form was killed by Nualia's channel energy ability (I'm playing Pathfinder Beta).

And Ameiko?

We've been told that she has family in Magnimar. I think that she's much more interested in the Dragon than in the Glassworks. I also think that the Scarnettis are interested in the Glassworks and would be willing to help her out in exchange for some sort of interest in the business.
So far this hasn't been centre stage, but this is going on in the background. (Even though Tsuto survived IMC he wasn't in the running to inherit.)
