SPOILERS! AS ALWAYS, IF YOU PLAY IN MY STATE COLLEGE GAME DON’T READ THIS!!
Hello everyone, I’ve been doing something in my Shackled City campaign that I thought I would share with everyone. Within my campaign world, I’ve been using the 13 Cagewrights suggested by Delvesdeep and I’ve strived to make them as secretive as possible. For example, each of the 6 masters knows the identity of their own apprentice, but do not know the identity of the other apprentices. Each of the 6 also does not know the true names of the other five. The apprentices are only aware of the portion of the “grand plan” they are working on and only the masters know the full picture. The only person that knows the true identity of all the members is the leader himself Dyr’Ryd. I did this for a variety of reasons. The first reason is that it allows my PCs to see parts of the plan as they capture or kill the apprentices around the mid-point of the game, and secondly it makes sense for a group that has spent several centuries (and gone through several members) trying to complete their grand plan. One aspect of this secrecy is that the 6 masters go by “false names” which describes their personalities, but hides their true identities. As the PCs learn these names it makes these villains seem more mysterious and creepy. These are the names I’ve come up with…
Dyr’Ryd - Janus
Gau Kleeoch - The Black Duchess
Regiden – The Archiver
Embril Alousinai – Angel of Death
Nulin Wiejeron - Fish
Freija Doorgan - ???? I haven’t come up with a good name for her.
Alurad Soizan – The Dark Sun
Additionally, several of the apprentices already have false names that they are referred to by.
Thifirane – The Black Veil
Zarn Kyass – The Blue Duke
Velior Thazo, Ike Iverson, Fetor, and Khyron have no names that I can think of.
Additionally, I’ve expanded a bit on the “touched by Adimarchus” effect Delvesdeep write about. Basically, I have it that more than just the XIII are touched by the big-A. Every once in awhile someone’s consciousness brushes up against the vast insanity of Adimarchus and the contact begins to change them. Most eventually become completely mad (but also very powerful) before burning out and dying. However, once in awhile a person retains their lucidity with only minor psychological detriment. These people gain great power and insight…these are the Cagewrights. These are the powers (and mental detriments that I gave each Cagewright).
Dyr’Ryd – The mutation of his face is a result of his close contact guarding Adimarchus for centuries. His ability to live on the material plane indefinitely is the benefit he gained.
Gau Kleeoch – She is constantly filled with a near uncontrollable rage. However she also has incredible charisma and can easily draw people to her banner.
Regiden – He is able to transmigrate into new bodies using his smoky gem as a focus. However the constant resistance of the new bodies causes him constantly cut at himself.
Embril Alousinai – She gained eternal beauty and the ability to control death magic. She has constant nightmares reliving the night she created the Haunted Village.
Nulin Wiejeron – Gained the ability to split his body into mirror duplicates…Lacks empathy and is a psychopath.
Freija Doorgan – ???? I don’t know. Haven’t thought of a cool power yet. She hates to be touched and neurotically cleans herself.
Alurad Soizan – An absolute psycho who loves to torture and maim his victims slowly over long periods of time, he has an inhuman stamina and constitution (which allowed him to survive being nearly disintegrated as a younger man).
Thifirane – ??? She too lacks a neat power, her flaw is her somewhat odd tastes in bed partners (such as Orbious and Zarn)
Zarn Kyass – The ability to charm people with his voice. His flaw is inconsequential because my party killed him way too fast.
Velior Thazo, Ike Iverson, and Khyron - ??? I’ve got nothing for these guys.
Fetor – He has the ability to see a few minutes into the future…constantly. He cannot be surprised. He cannot turn this off and he constantly finds himself disconnected from the present (he has found some relief by allowing his mind to float in the Soul Pillars).
I’ve also come up with a few other “Cagewrights” that are either dead or left the group.
Kaurophon – “Souleater” He gained the ability to consume the personalities and memories of people he killed. This is a double edged sword as he often cannot control which of these personalities is in control.
“The Blind Oracle” – Someone with a much more powerful version of Fetor’s ability. She was the seer for the XIII up until she died. Incidentally she was the one who told Kaurophon he would find his fate on Occipitus…leading him to leave the group.

Great work Sean. I'm off on holiday until Saturday but will give you a hand with ideas when I reaturn unless others come up with brilliant ones before then.
Thifirane has Orbius' eye so perhaps a link to this could be her power. You could even add an additional power coupled with the gaze of this orb revolving around creating madness in opponents or seeing into the Nightmare realm etc
Just a fleeting thought
