DM Sharoth wrote:Aldan,
~Tess looks at you~ So tell me more about yourself.
"Well, my parents were skilled Magi, so I naturally picked up the talent. I studied from a young age, and applied to a college a full two years younger then their minimum age requirement. It took my parents some time, but after much deliberation, I was finally accepted. I graduated among the top of my class with a specialty in Divination magic, and left to see the world for myself. I've been many places, and came here by chance. I have a sense that this place is the true beginning of my journey.
"Ahem. Sorry for the rant, very sorry!" Aldan looks around the table of guests and stands, introducing himself to the people around, bows to them, and sits.
Aldan,
~Tess grins at you and then squeezes your hand again~ Oh, I don't think that you were ranting. I find magic to be very interesting, despite my inability to work it.

Brother Seamus wrote:"Nicely done, little one. Hast thou and thy partner been performing together long?""Just met her this evening. Lovely lady, quite skilled."
Priapus,
~Tess looks at you~ Oh, Brie is very talented. She will be playing most of the night and then spending what she has earned the next day. She can be quite the grasshoper at times. ~said with a bit of disaproval~ But, ~Tess shrugs~ that is her life.

Idiah |

Idiah is a bit wary of the diviner - she hasn't had many experiences with magic, and those she did have were not pleasant ones. Still, Tess' trust in Aldan and his unassuming behavior mollify her.
She smiles broadly at Seamus' mention of free beer and board.
"Lady Chauntessa has been very generous," she says. "I wouldn't want to overstep the bounds of hospitality....But I also wouldn't mind some more of this fine ale."
~she quaffs the rest of her ale.

Kael |

~Tess grins at Aldan and then squeezes your hand again~ Oh, I don't think that you were ranting. I find magic to be very interesting, despite my inability to work it.
"There are other things out there besides magic."
Kael takes out three silver pieces, sets them on the table, and gestures. The silver pieces perform a little dance to the music."I once used this technique to avoid some orc bandits."
"Of course. Kael and I are riding on Her Ladyship's graces this evening."
"Oh, that is the case! It had slipped my mind."
Kael gestures for some more wine, bread and cheese.
Idiah |

Kael takes out three silver pieces, sets them on the table, and gestures. The silver pieces perform a little dance to the music.
"I once used this technique to avoid some orc bandits."
Idiah's eyes open wide in surprise at the trick. The only creatures she has seen that use spell-like abilities are erinyes!
Recovering from the shock, she says, "I'm not surprised you scared away those orcs. A fair number of common folk would be afraid, too.""Of course. Kael and I are riding on Her Ladyship's graces this evening."
"Oh, that is the case! It had slipped my mind."
Kael gestures for some more wine, bread and cheese.Idiah joins in his effort in waving down the waitstaff.
"More ale!" she calls.
Brother Seamus |

Seamus eats and enjoys himself, but hardly drinks any ale at all. Some of it is old norms --you don't live long in the Darklands by besotting yourself-- some of it is personal preference --his first alcohol was vinted from Lac Beetle shells, and he doesn't imagine that this "ale" stuff tastes much better-- and part of it is intentional caution --he's made at least two poerful enemies in the last two hours, and he's on the lookout to see if either Lord Granger or this mysterious Ankiel have agents in the Slumbering Dragon.
After people have had their fill of meat, bread, cheese, and wine, I endeavor to round us up and bring us to Lady Chantessa.

Valtiro Caspisi |

A tallish, light-skinned man with his hair and beard in a braid wanders gently into the tavern, quietly stepping to a table in the corner and looking out carefully over the room, resting his head on a wrist and tugging gently at his braid.
And so, after much delay and sans-travel, I push into the thread - 12 pages in...[/shame]

"Well, I've enjoyed myself thoroughly. If there's nothing else, perhaps we should retire for the night." Aldan smiles at Tess.
Aldan,
~Tess smiles and winks~ Oh, I think that Aldan's idea is a superb one. Besides, Lady Cauntessa seems to prefer morning meeting.

![]() |

"Aldan, would you like us to let you know what becomes of the audience Lady Chauntessa has asked for us, when we see you tomorrow morning?"
Brother Seamus and Kael,
~Tess looks at the two of you~ I think that Lady Chauntessa would be interested in seeing you two as well. Would you like me to ask her?

Valtiro,
Welcome to the game. ~gives a long, sad DM sigh~ I had so hoped to have you brought in as a captive, but you had to go and spoil it! ~GRINS~

Brother Seamus |

~Tess looks at Kael and Seamus. " I think that Lady Chauntessa would be interested in seeing you two as well. Would you like me to ask her?"
This meal is with my complements. Perhaps later you two can join me? I may have a propostion that might interest you.
"I think she is already expecting us, and presently, by the sense of it."
With whomever else will come with me, I ascend to the private quarters and knock at Lady Chauntessa's door. "Your Ladyship?"

~Staggers down the hall still juggling the 'Dancing lights'~
Sharoth
** spoiler omitted **
Priapus,
That is Oh Lord and Master DM Sharoth to you, worm! ~grins and winks~
Well, since it is not THAT hard to fake being drunk, I would say that you have no need, unless you bring some scrutiny upon yourself.

DM Sharoth wrote:Well, since it is not THAT hard to fake being drunk, I would say that you have no need, unless you bring some scrutiny upon yourself.Sharoth, he's a gnome. He doesn't have to take inebriants. He is an inebriant.
~shrugs~ Good point. What would you suggest that I should do to a Gnome that is playing drunk? Make him sing? Isn't that crimes against humanity?

Idiah |

Idiah notices the man with the braids who just came in. He's tan and has dark hair like she does; maybe their people are related? Sometimes she suspects she is part Varisian but has never actively sought to find out. Since he is lightly armed and wearing simple garb she assumes he is a local commoner.
Does Idiah notice anything unusual about braids-guy? Rolls perception.
Seamus goes to rouse Lady Chauntessa, so Idiah stretches, gets up loudly from the table and follows Seamus up to Lady Chauntessa's door.

Valtiro Caspisi |

I start from my observation of the tavern as I spot a woman across the room wearing a ruffed skirt in the style of my homeland.
"Could this girl be from the land of my parents? She does not look Varisian, at least not entirely... but it is too intruiging to pass up...
As I watch, the woman rises, heading towards the stairs up. As she reaches them, I catches her eyes for a second. Unable to think of a discreet way to hail her from across the room, I quickly slide my chair back and begins to push across the inn towards the woman and her companions in an attempt to catch her.

To All,
As you all get closer to the door, you hear a bang against the wall as if something had been thrown against it and the tinkle of something breaking. You then hear some people speaking.
~female voice that you recognize as Lady Chauntessa~ Calm down Quintus. This will not solve anything.
~male voice speaking in a very angry and frustrated tone~ He was my son! ~the voice then adds a frightened and sad tone~ And she is like my grand-daughter!

Priapus |

" Hey watch it bub, I may be small but that is no excuse to run over me. She is Cute but dang."
~At the same time I am reaching behind me to grab a dagger afraid that this man coming over may have been part of the group who attacked Idiah on the road.~
Smiles broadly up at Valtiro ~ Still 'juggling' the dancing lights with his other hand

Merian,
You rember what Tess had said earlier.
Davris is Quintus' son. And Lyssa is Davris' apprentice. Lyssa is such a darling young girl. It is amazing that she has learned as much as she has for a 11 year old girl. Of course, her familar helps keep her in line.
Sorry about the delay. I had a busy day. Gran Torino was well worth watching.

Idiah |

Idiah sees the man chase after her with a mix of glee and alarm. Either I've still got it, she thinks, or he knows me from somewhere, hopefully not a wanted poster!
Seeing him up close, she thinks: By Calistria's sting, he's handsome! Charisma 16? GQ!
"Have we met before?" she asks him, gently pushing Priapus aside.
Then she hears the shouting and a crash coming from Lady Chauntessa's room and turns her attention to that.
"It sounds like trouble, maybe we should go in?"
