USS Forrestal model search...

I am searching for a model of the USS Forrestal to give my oldest boy for Christmas. I have been searching for a bit now and am starting to get a bit desperate. My budget is about 30.00 USD and the few that i have found online are either well more than that, or cannot gaurantee shipping in time for the holiday. :(

Failing to find the model, I would love advice if anyone has ever made custom decals for a model. I can find the USS Saratoga (which is the *exact* same carrier with insignia differences only) locally, but the number decals are not going to be right.

I know this is long shot but...

When you say "search" did you mean google?

These seem to be decals you could use to make the Saratoga into the Forrestal.

Well it was only $25 plus $8 Shipping. $33 is awful darn close to that $30 mark.

Ah. True, Sigil said 'about $30.00', not precisely. :)

Still, it depends how important it is to budget tightly in these hard times.
And I'm still trying to work out why Tensor said it was $65, or maybe Tensor wanted paying a $65 'finder's fee'.... ;)

I'd offer to check around the old Philly Navy Yard (where the ship was decommed) for spare parts, but (a)I'd get in trouble, and (b)I'm leaving tomorrow.

Thank you all! I found someone with a USS Saratoga, who will get it to me on the 24th, and with decals to do the conversion.

Aberzombie, thanks for your offer! :) I am having fun imagining you trying to explain that to the unamused MP's that may catch you. She is currently docked at NUWC in Newport, RI (side by side with the Saratoga, oddly enough). Imagine the headlines as they realize a carrier has been stolen! Of course, they are not all that fast or easy to hide so this plan may need some more work.
