I have a couple of questions regarding traits, and I think this is the right place to ask them. Currently, the only traits are in the Second Darkness PF Companion and the Elves of Golarion PF Companion. So this means that currently, the only characters that can have racial/religion/etc. traits are elves. My questions are:
1. Will products other than the PF Companions have traits?
2. Will future products consolidate previously released traits?
3. There were some rumors about the PfRPG having traits (as well as haunts and chase rules). Are these currently unfounded?
4. Currently, there are no more racially-focused PF Companions on the docket. Will we be seeing a Dwarves of Golarion or (Half-)Orcs of Golarion supplements?
5. Will racial and religious traits show up in regional PF Companions?

We'll generally be trying to have new traits in every Pathfinder Companion, but now and again it won't work out that way. To answer your questions more exactly...
1) Yes. We have many new traits in the Legacy of Fire Player's Guide for regional, race, religion, and several campaign traits, for example.
2) Perhaps. We'll certainly be creating a PF RPG compatable traits document (probably a free PDF) to coincide with the launch of Council of Thieves, and we'll have the "rough draft" of that free PDF available for Legacy of Fire. As for having traits show up in a print product... I hope some day, yeah!
3) The PF RPG won't have traits in it. Nor will it have haunts or chase rules. The PF RPG is a huge book, and we just don't have the room to add on these additional rules and still do the main game justice. Traits and haunts and the like are likely to appear in a later rulebook akin to Unearthed Arcana, perhaps, but nothing's definite yet other than that they won't be in the main rule book.
4) Perhaps. We have no other racial Companions on the schedule yet, but we WILL be putting race traits (and regional and religion traits) into other Companions now and then, particularly in the Adventure Path player's guides.
5) Yup. See #4 above.

Hey james,
Just to hop onto his and throw another weird request at you guys along with 'moar pigtails plz.' and NPC: The Generics.
Could we have a players hand book. It would be really nice to have access to a book that contained expanded rules for:
- skills
- a robust social conflict systems
- merits and flaws
- a few new classes and feats
You know, that sort of thing... It could even contain traits.

The idea of a Pathfinder version of Unearthed Arcana just made my day. I love the Pathfinder setting, but more so, the way the guys at Paizo 'tweak' things. This would be an awesome product, and perhaps could even offer more radical changes to the rule system game that the PFRPG could do.

I've gotta say, the scattershot traits system up until now is something of a frustration, and I'd love to see a consolidated book for it.
We started the Second Darkness adventure path recently, and the half-elf barbarian really, really wanted to take the Adopted trait from the Player's Guide, until we realized that there were no racial traits to be had anywhere. She was rather disappointed that the trait was even available if it was keyed to traits that weren't, and she had to select something else (though she still decided her half-elf had been adopted by dwarves anyway...).
Something like traits would be great in a Campaign Setting book, or some other fluff/crunch supplement, but needing a regular subscription for it doesn't appeal to me. I look forward to seeing the PDF compilations, though.

Isn't that Player's Guide a PF Companion?

Note that the trait lists aren't exclusive. You can always come up with something of your own. Just look at the existing traits and use them as guidelines, and then use your information.

Indeed, I can always make a new rule, but I don't particularly want to, if I don't have to. The biggest issue with the Second Darkness path was the presence of the Adopted trait, which requires a trait type that isn't even available. It really should have been held until racial traits were provided.
There's a very good chance that I'll have to develop traits specific to my campaign setting, but the less work I have to do, the better. Granted, traits are much simpler than, say, prestige classes or base classes, so it's less of an issue if I have to build them, but I do appreciate things that save me time and effort.
