Rise of the Rune Lords - Beta conversion

Rise of the Runelords

Hi,

I am at long last getting started with RotRL.

I plan to run it with the PF Beta. I am a bit pressed for time though and would appreciate any help available for conversion details.

Can anyone point me to a conversion guide or similar help? I know the basics of it as described in Beta already - I need help to a finished/semi-finished conversion.

Thanks

I'm running RotRL using PF Beta rules. Actually, I didn't do much conversion work at all, except calculating CMB's (rather easy), re-statting some NPCs (Xanesha, Black Arrow rangers, Shalelu - a bit of work) and making some adjustments to treasure (cloaks of charisma becoming headbands etc).

Most of my conversion work was because: a) players having some obscure classes/feats that collided with PFBeta rule (Binder *cough*) b) my fancy of spicing things up - eg. I made all CR 7 Kreeg Ogres into Scouts (using MM IV Ogre Scout).

If you need a hand with anything - let me know here and I will try to recall how I solved the issue in my game. BTW we just finished PF3, so I can't really help beyond Hook Mountain.

Like the previous post wrote, the headband and belt is something you should look out for. Until you reach higher level most you need to look out for is increasing hit points. I found Grapple converts to Combat Maneuver Bonus for medium sized creatures are the same. Small creatures add 3 to their grapple to get their CMB and subtract 3 from large ones. This will handle most situations.

Actually, my PFRPG campaign is first time ever D&D game for all my players, so I didn't bump the monsters up to match the higher power level of PCs - they still die now and then anyway :P

One thing I did however - I applied the "CHA bonus to hit points" rule for the undead - made some fights (eg the wight in Hook Clanhold) all the more interesting.

But that was purely optional. So far, I find the Backwards Compatibility to be excellent and the changes great. We're having a major good time there !

Thanks, those are good points.

Tomorrow we will be having the first session. I was worried about having to de skills and feats. But realize the changes will be very minor at such low levels.

I should get started with the CMB right away though.

I had completely forgotten about the changed items and the increased undead hp. I will look out for those as well.

If I need help I will know where to ask. Thanks again guys.

EDIT:
I have been prioritizing a bit oddly I think.
I have spent the last couple of days painting the goblin pyros and warriors, since I wanted the players to visualize the PF style.

For anyone who likes minis I must say; the goblins are a bit monotonous to paint as there are a bunch of they and they all look a lot alike (greys and browns dominating). Still, they are really cool their expresions are fantastic and remind me of a mix between Joda and the gremlins.
