I was converting Clegg Zincher and I noticed something odd about him. The 2H Pick Axe introduced in the sidebar doesn't list whether it's a martial or a simple weapon. Considering it's based on the Heavy Pick and the crit multiplier is x4 I would guess it's a martial weapon though which makes for a slight problem because Zincher is a rogue/ expert and shouldn't be proficient... nor should he be proficient in the hand axe which is his preferred missile weapon.
Also, damage for the Pickaxe is listed as Dmg(S) 1d6; Dmg(L) 1d8 I think it probably means (M) for the second damage listing.
I guess Zincher gets the NPC exception to the proficiency rules ;)

The pick axe is a martial weapon that does indeed do 1d8 points of damage for a Medium size wielder. As for the proficiencies, though, that is indeed a design error. I'd suggest swapping out a feat for Martial Weapon Proficiency (pick axe) and then have him just take a penalty with his axe throwing... or drop one of his expert levels and give him a level of fighter. That second one's my preferred choice for the fix, although it will mess a little with his stats. Since he's an NPC, he doesn't really worry about things like XP penalties.
OR: You can just leave him as is. Not like what basically amounts ot a free pair of weapon proficiencies is anything a character will notice unless you're in the habit of telling your players what types of levels your NPCs are.
