Strolling down magazine memory lane

Off-Topic Discussions

So recently I had decided to update the storage of my many gaming magazines. I had them in boxes, but I wanted to get them in mylar with backing and get them organized. I bit the bullet and bought the supplies and sat down this long weekend to get started.

I own about 300 Dragon magazines, about 100 Dungeon a few dozen old White Dwarfs when they used to print D&D articles and of course, Pathfinder and Kobold Quarterly.

It was so interesting to see the many evolutions the game has gone through. I do have to say that the Paizo Years were definitely some of the best for Dragon and Dungeon.

I am glad that the company that gave my two favorites such a good five years is successfully moving forward. Thanks retroactively from a satisfied reader of Dragon and Dungeon!

So how many did you actually get through? I guess:

Spoiler:
32. And if you're like me, you spent more time reading old articles then bagging :)

I actually did pretty good, more like 150 all told. I was fortunate in that my daughter Julia was looking for some spare cash so I enlisted her assistance (which kept my reading to a minimum). There are a lot to go though! I have a dining room table stacked ATM.

I do have to say I found a great Planescape article on fiendish fortresses I am currently mining for flavor ...

150! You've got willpower. Last time I tried to sort through a box of old game stuff (Dungeon, Dragon, various supplements), I came across a Greyhawk supplement picked up at a store closing that I'd packed away before reading. That box is still sitting waiting to be sorted.

My willpower crumbled earlier when I came home, and began to read them instead of packing them like I should. It's been so long since I've seen the mags, there are some real top-shelf articles in them ...sigh ... I'm glad I have them as a resource at least.
