Moving to San Antonio...

Off-Topic Discussions

So, my wife just accepted a really good job in San Antonio and it looks like we'll be moving there within the next couple months. As a native Texan, I have of course made an obligatory visit to San Antonio to see the Alamo and all, but it was when I was about 7 so I don't remember to much of it.

Any one here live or lived in or around SA? Any good FLGS? Good restaurants? Any recomendations for other fun stuff to do other than the obvious Sea World, Riverwalk, Schlitterbahn?

YAY! San Antonio! My mommy lives there! :D

It's been a few years for me, but Alien Worlds was a good comic book/gaming store when I lived there. Restaurants I can't help with - it's been far too long since I lived there, but there's one my mom and I frequented at the Westlakes Mall. It was a Chinese food place, but had a pond and bridge built inside and golden buddhas over the entry to the restrooms. I think it was Asia Kitchen, but I can't be sure. I lived off of Marbach/Loop 410, if that helps any...

Try Dragon's Lair. They have message boards where you can find local gamers. I understand SA is a good town for gaming. I live in Austin, so I don't know for sure.

SA...great town. Mi Tierra Cafe and Bakery in Market Square, La Fonda on Main...man, I'm gettin hungry.

Dragon's Lair is a good place to start for gaming purposes. You should also try Capparelli's for Chicago style pizza. It's the best pizza in town. Really good stuff. Another fun place to try is the zoo.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I'll be sure and check them out when I get there. Is the Dragon's Lair in SA affiliated with the Dragon's Lair in Austin? I've been to the one in Austin a few years ago and liked it.

Yep, they're affiliated.

I end up going to San Antonio once every couple months for work and we we're there we try and eat at a place called the Stonewerks at the quarry. Good food and decent beer selection.

Sounds good, Daigle. I'll have to check it out.

I second Dragon’s Lair. Check out the message boards and chat up Rook. He is in the SA area.
