I know, I know, the feat isn't available to players yet due to it not being in the Player's Handbook, but since it's clearly in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Beta (and I hope it's still there in the finalized version) it'll most likely be available for year one.
Now, I know that the rules explicitly do not allow evil characters, but what about evil familiars? For an example, could a Lawful Neutral Wizard have an imp familiar? As per the feat itself it would be acceptable (since the Wizard is one step away from the imp's alignment) but I'm just wondering whether this would constitute a breach of the alignment clause. Then again, we already have Lawful Neutral Clerics of Asmodeus so I wouldn't consider this too much of a stretch.

I'm bumping this due to lack of response (which is understandable given the fact that this is not a current issue). I'd just like to know if any thought has been given to this issue. I'm not looking for an official statement, just thoughts from the people involved. Call it a combination of simple curiosityand the fact that I really, really want to play a Chelish diabolist with an Imp familiar at some point. ;)

No, we would not allow evil familiars. As for the rest of your question, I won't be able to answer than until June or July. :-)
Thank you for your response. :)
While this is completely understandable from the "Hey, your pet bat is blinking evil to my Paladin!" point of view, as it would certainly be disruptive to games, I'm still kind of peeved by the official ruling. Oh well, back to the drawing board with me. :D
