So it can't be just me, with the singing funny yet scary degenerate goblins who seem like evil fairy tale critters, and the haunted house and the texas chainsaw ghoul, and the idea of sins being the factor etc...
So has anyone thought of adapting this campaign to a ravenloft setting and maybe make the whole thing its own dread realm? I mean there could be all kinds of fun to find out that in the end the runelord is actually a darklord, as are the others etc..
And if one were to do this what would absolutely HAVE to be changed? any thoughts, comments, stories?

oddly enough that thought had crossed my mind (esp with the Monstrous births and whatnot).
The only real problem is that overall, everyone is much happier here, so I think the goblin attack and whatnot have a greater effect. Goblins attack, kill maim, and so on, it will be recorded as this big to-do.
In Ravenloft it would be Thursday.
But, it could certainly be put there with out too much issue. Except maybe the goblins are too happy . . .

My brother/PC mentioned, after the glassworks, that Runelords seemed almost like a Ravenloft game.
If you feel the need, I think it's a good fit. I think it's better standing alone though. A big part of fear is the unexpected— sitting down to a Ravenloft game has a way of priming the player's expectations.
If they've never played Runelords before, they'll never see it coming.

Well one of the expectations of Ravenloft, at least for me and the people I game with, is that you never KNOW it's going to be ravenloft till it happens, so the expectations don't happen until it dawns on them that it has gone down and it makes them even more panicked :P
As for the happy people and crazy gobbies, I think that works even better in ravenloft. The one major thing about ravenloft that always bugged me is that the setting was ALWAYS gloomy so that the horrors they faced were common, it always appealed to me that people were ignorant and happy till stuff went down for 2 reasons:
1) makes the horror more real and marking when no one expects it to all go down quickly
2) if a demiplane of dread is a prison for a very evil being and his "castle" then it seems to make sense that every one is happy being there EXCEPT him/her. Even more reason to go ballistic and torture peasents.
and as for the goblins, well I think they work because they're happy being sadistic. But maybe thats just me. If anything I guess I was pointing out how Ravenloft feeling the AP was, almost Ravenloft without the copyright stuff :P

In my opinion, the 2nd Edition Ravenloft games were seldom (if ever) about bumping off the 'Darklords'. They were about struggling to survive and retain both decency and sanity.
If I put Rise of the Runelords into Ravenloft, it would become about

This is a good take, I think it really could be very cool especially if you play him up to be evil near god Cthulu style so that him getting free is VERY bad for even the mighty heroes :P
