I started a Call of Cthulhu pbp recently, but the players aren't posting as often as I'd like. I'm interested in starting a second CoC game- ideally one that could move along a little quicker. If you're interested post here. I'd probably prefer 1920s, but I could also be persuaded to do a more modern Delta Green style one if there was more of an interest in that.

Cool. Maybe you and Larcifer can start bouncing around a couple of ideas around. I'll throw in my two cents here and there, but I think I'll try to focus the game as much as possible around the characters, and their motivations and interests. The more hooks you come up with in your backgrounds the easier my job will be. However, I'd like it if the two of you could find some connections for your two PCs- friends, coworkers, relatives etc.... Also let me know if there any adventure books or material you are particularly familiar with, so I avoid pulling material from any of those sources.

As for the adventure....
I am curious why is that.... Is there no pdf available.
As for my concept...
Is the concept of the performance magician acceptable? I will list his 8 occupation skills as: Conceal, Fast Talk, Hide, Locksmith, Occult, Persuade, Sneak, and Credit Rating. I think these will simulate a stage Magician.

Do you have room for a Bloomsbury-addled sexual invert of independent means? Think frustrated academic, with a susceptibility to the communist dream, desperate to find a way to stand out from the crowd. Viennese, of course. Will attempt to psychoanalise everything. In with the Adler crowd, but forced to the margins because of his sexual deviance, and obvious oedipal misidentification. Laughed at by Adler at a party, and keen to discover something. Anything. Even things that should never be...

I'm not sure exactly what adventure I want to run. I like some of the stuff in the Mansions of Madness. I have some stuff from the Arkham source book that I wouldn't mind running as well. However, if there is going to be a kind of stage magician them, I might opt to start in a larger city like New York, and pull some stuff out of that book.
I'm sort of waiting to see what kind of backgrounds we can come up with for characters, and then I'm thinking I'll go from there.
However, it is important that the characters are all linked together in someway. In my other game there are 3 PCs. Two are PIs and the other one is their secretary. I'm not really interested in doing the PI thing for this game since I have that going on in the other one, and in my Shadowrun game, and to some extent in my Mutants and Masterminds game. However, I'd still like to work in some kind of connection.

Well, do you think you could some how tie the character in with some of the other concepts that are being put forward?

Cocaine and ennui have led him to be a financial backer of Zoltok's act. He likes to hang around with Zoltok, as it helps him feel glamorous. He also helps Zoltok interpret his dreams, and acts as straight man in the show. He could also have taught Zoltok how to do cold readings for a psychic act, but be desperately trying to find someone with real psychic abilities, to vindicate him academically.
Plus the cocaine he dishes out makes him popular.
Would that fit with anybody?

That sounds pretty good. Are folks ready to see about putting some characters together? It looks like we have a party of 3, or possibly 4.

"Then in 1914 the U.S. federal government classified cocaine as a narcotic (which it is not) and outlawed it. After passing the Harrison Narcotics Act of 1914, the only way a person could get cocaine was with a prescription, or illegally. "
I prescribe the stuff for myself. I can write prescriptions for all sorts of things. Doctor of psychiatry and all...
That is why a criminal would be good friends with me.

Character ideas are percolating. I will create him tomorrow. Looking to have high int, and lots of academic skills. Only combat skills will be from fencing in Bavarian gymnasia. He is corrupt, but looks like everyones favourite uncle. His homosexuality is subtle, and he never admits to it. His father still holds out hope that Ingo will come back and claim the family enamelware business. The war was good for the von Lamprecht family. Soldiers need tins and cups.
Trading Prussia for Austria has helped.
Ingo came to (insert campaign location here) to find something remarkable that is his alone.

When you guys are rolling attributes you can swap around any that are rolled the same way. ie 3d6 rolls can be placed where you want them etc...

I am recent DLer of the quick start, and was going to reply to the first game, but alas it was already filled. Still room here? I'll figure something out over the weekend. (I love Lovecraft, and my group passed around the original game in junior high...a looooooooong time ago, but we were very AD&D back then)
