Delete / Edit / Reply

While I did not attempt to do edit earlier comments, I noticed that my Delete/Edit/Reply option on my most recent comment about Koplow's d24s indicated that I could revise my two previous comments, one of which was made in August. Is this an intended feature? Would I have failed if I had tried?

I've seen that before on a thread where my new post moved it from the archives back into the 'live' forum. As I was posting to update the information in my old post, I found I was able to delete my new post and edit the old one.
