Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I was browsing around and could not find anything like this, so apologize if another similar thread exists.

It occured to me there should be place to share homebrew adventure ideas, or adapting other adventures to Pathfinder and Golarion. So here is the new place to do so.

I'll start it off with a modification from an adventure seed I read last night.

The adventure starts in the markets of Absalom. A merchant is trying to sell a trinket and is waving it around. Suddenly there is a burst of acrid smoke and a Djinn appears. Rather than attack wantonly, the Djinn laughs. "Haha, I was just eavesdropping on a group of Angels talking and find myself here. Oh the story they were telling! No matter it shall come to pass anyway." The Djinni laughs as people run for cover. "The Angels said the Sword of Aroden shall be found within a Twelve-Month and the weilder shall have power over the world." With that prophecy the Djinn disappears in a puff of acrid smoke, leaving people amazed in his absence.

The legendary Sword of Aroden was said to have been forged from a sliver of the Star Stone itself. Stories claim that the sword could cut through anything, and granted the wielder great strength and charisma over men.

The PCs become caught up in the hunt for the sword of legend. Whether for themselves, for a patron or to prevent someone else from claiming the artifact. Whether the prophecy is true or not, there is bound to be bloodshed for the amusement of the Djinn.

Nice idea. I'm currently knee deep in converting an old White Dwarf classic -"The Eagle Hunt" to Pathfinder and Golarion, and likewise following this will be conversions/re-imaginations of TSR UK2 & UK3 - The Sentinel and The Gauntlet... [ahh halycon days indeed!]

Would they qualify? [Will be happy to post em once I'm done]

Yeppers! Love to hear more about them and what you are working on.

OK, so on Tuesdays nights I co-GM a game and we just sat down and plotted out the game. I had to share what we did for the first level BBEG that gets the whole thing started.

We decided we wanted to use monsters from MM 1 that are not used all that often. So our villian is a Hag Covey.

At first level the poor dumb PCs are investigating a series of murders in Korvosa. It appears that the victims have been drained of blood by vampires. The PCs manage to catch a glimpse of an attack one night and follow the attacker across roof tops and eventually looses it. However, the attacker appeared to be a dog!

Later the PCs are better prepared and manage to come across another attack. This time they follow the dog to an old run down haunted-looking house. Ideal for vampires, right? So they enter. And they are attacked by a metal dog and a metal dwarf. The fighter manages to down the dwarf and finds metal "fangs" attached to a hose that slides out of its arm. The hose connects to a bladder in the metal dwarf's leg. Then a metal human appears and the fighter gets real tough. Stairs collapse and floors fall apart around PCs. Things are looking grim and just plain weird. Finally the PCs prevail just as a flash of light occurs in another room.

The PCs investigate and find a regular gnome, stunned and terrified by the PCs. The PCs quickly subdue him and he identifies himself only as The Toymaker. They demand explanations.

The Toymaker explains that the metal monsters they have defeated are in fact his clockwork toys. They have been sent out into the city to collect blood. When the PCs demand to know why he would do something so awful he breaks down and cries and begs for mercy. He explains that his family is held hostage by an evil woman of power. She demanded that he collect the blood for her or she would kill his family. He doesn't know what she wants the blood for, nor does he know where she is in the city. He is able to go to her during certain times by stepping into a magic circle. He explains he just left her and the circle is still active if they wish to go after her.

So the PCs rush to the circle and it activates, but it brings down the house so there is no return trip. They appear in a hallway with more constructs. This time they have The Toymaker with them. He quickly deactivates them and gives the PCs a mysterious crystal that powers the constructs. He explains that she gives him the crystals and he has no idea what they are.

The hallway has two more circles. The Toymaker makes a dash for one and disappears. The PCs arrive just too late and the circles are no longer active.

They move to the door...

And find themselves in an IMMENSE chamber. There are tables with body parts, an oven with some ghoulish concoction brewing, a howler is chained to a column, and there is a pen with a few ducks in it. The PCs never even paid attention to the ducks!

At the far end of the chamber is an altar of blood with a beautiful nude woman thrashing about begging for help. Beside her is a large construct that looks like a butler of all things. They fight past the howler and almost die (they are first level). The cleric gets them going again as the "Butler" is throwing spoons, knifes, and forks at them. Whenever the Butler misses them he knocks out a pot of wiggly body parts that start squirming over the floor trying to attack anything in their space. They take out the butler.

They go to free the woman who almost rips the heart out of the rogue. She is the newst member to the Covey... or will be. She is a human woman undergoing blood therapies to turn her into a Hag. The fight is tough and two almost die. But the first level Pathfinder PCs win the day!

This shows how much 1st level Pathfinder PCs can do.

Now, the rogue is hungry and decides to eat a duck. He whacks off its head intending to cook it. Then he finds the Toymaker's wife in his arms, and he is holding her severed head! What better way to keep your hostages under control than to shapeshift them to something manageble, like ducks!

Ok the premise here is the woman was undergoing mystic rituals involving blood to change into an Annis Hag to join the Covey. She supplied the Toymaker with crystals to power his contructs. The crystals are in fact holy relics from the Grimlocks, reputed to contain the souls of their dead. The Covey will want revenge upon the PCs now. The Grimlocks, lead by a Half-demon Medusa will want their crystals back and want revenge. The Toymaker will want revenge for the PCs decapitating his wife...

And in the meantime during their escape from the Chamber, the PCs are going to accidentally uncover a WereRat den dedicated to Urgothoa...

Does this count?
