I haven't posted to this site before (and rarely post to any site) but I'm really frusterated in trying to find the answer to a minis-related question and was hoping someone could help out. It seems like this particular question should be placed under "product discussion" but that seems related to particular products only, not general product questions. Please let me know where I should post this question.
The question itself is:
Hi,
I'm looking for relatively cheap but halfway decent standard D&D-style, pre-painted minis. I apolygize if this question has already been answered somewhere, but I've spent several hours now looking for the answer and not found it. For example, I want to buy a bunch of goblins, orcs, skelitons/zombies, a few large-sized monsters like trolls, a horse or two, etc. I like the D&D prepainted minis but absolutely despise the "random" concept because I don't need the million weird prestige class minis and such I keep getting - at this point, all I want are some standard monsters. I want them pre-painted; my attempts at painting have taught me I'm terrible at it and hate spending my time at it. Does someone sell a pack of goblins? Etc. You'd think at the very least people that collect the random D&D minis would want to get rid of their extra "commons" and there's be a bunch being sold somewhere for a great deal but I can't even seem to find that. I've looked on eBay and maybe I'm not typing in the right search parameters or something but in any case I'm not finding what I want there.
I'm posting to the Paizo site because I've had good luck with your shop. But I haven't found any products like this on your site. The closest seem to be the unpainted minis (at least there are packs of standard, related monsters), but I want pre-painted (plasic or whatever, doesn't matter to me).
I'd really appreciate any advise on this
Thanks

Ok, thanks
One more question if you don't mind, I'm really wanting to look at the critter sets you mentioned, but I'm having trouble finding them; all the links I find from searching seem to lead to the wrong page. Are the critter sets still available?
The paizo site has some 'critter sets' of common themes using the WotC commons, and Reaper jsut started making a line of prepainted minis that come like this, I'm not sure if they are on the paizo site off the top of my head

I wasn't able to find them yesterday either... I know some of them were running out, and they hadn't had manpower to remake them... that might be what happened... not sure though.

I had Jake make up some new Critter Packs a few weeks back, but we have been selling our D&D minis singles so fast lately that various minis in the packs were going out of stock and thus making the packs not viable. We might still put packs up some day, but the best way to buy is just browse through the minis singles and look for the cheap ones (around $1 each) and make your own Critter Packs.

Hi,
The Reaper ones are great, search in the store for "reaper legendary". If you want D&D ones either get them here or on Ebay, just search for D&D and the set name you are interested in. These can be checked on the Wizards website. There's plenty of great sellers on Ebay willing to part with their spares cheaply.....like me!

It seems almost to good to be true, I've been hoping they'd sell non-random packs for a very long time.
They announced it at the ACD Open House last week (ACD is one of the larger distributors). I haven't seen a press release yet, but a bunch of retailers got the announcement at the show.

If this is allowed, I might suggest you check out NobleKnightGames.com, and CoolStuffInc.com for their lists of individual D&D minis. Just in case our friends here at Paizo might be out of a particular mini you are looking for.
I do not mean to offend anyone at Paizo. Please don't beat me, I'll be good I promise!!!!!

I've used coolstuffinc.com in the past. They ship really fast most of the time.Never heard of nobleknightgames though. Thanks for the link. :D

The interesting thing about Noble Knight Games is that they have advertised in Dungeon and Dragon Magazines and in Kobold Quarterly. They are an excellent source of out of print and obscure RPG games, and not just d20. They ship fairly quickly and they have reshipped an order to me when it got lost in the Black Hole between WI and TX courtesy of the USPS. I highly recommend them.

The only other people that I know of doing pre-painted fantasy syle minis is Confrontation Miniatures. Their stuff is really nice, but not necessarily standard fantasy eg they have a Wolfen army....
Good suggestion! He's talking about Confrontation: Age of the Rag'narok minis from Rackham. (Note that Rackham has other Confrontation minis that are unpainted metal—if you want prepainted plastic, make sure you're looking at the Age of the Rag'narok line.)
