Ditto, for me and one or two other people.

What's the word?

Scarab Sages

Alleynbard? Any news? I'd prefer to get involved in this, but I'm getting a tad impatient. Just a little. :) I want to run/play some PFS goodness!

I'm sorry, I just saw this. :( I was waiting to see what this quarter looked like before I totally committed.

Well, I got an idea of my workload yesterday and I have to say I don't think I can start anything within the next few months at least.

My classes look pretty intense this quarter. Compound this with the fact I am returning to school after a six year hiatus so I am worried about being out of academic practice.

Sorry guys, I really wish I could guarantee I can start something but this quarter is just too important for me to take on too much more responsibility.

Scarab Sages

Alright, I'm taking it upon myself to get something rolling. I've emailed the Armoury, and will be setting something up soon to go in and talk to them about running PFS there on a regular basis (probably bi-weekly). They seem excited about the prospect.

If you're in the area and would be interested in playing PFS on a regular basis, please let me know here. I'd like to be able to give them a general idea of interested players.

I'll keep everyone updated.

Whoa, are you telling me you guys are all from Pick-town?

Scarab Sages

No, no. That's just where the Armoury is located. I live in Grove City.

Scarab Sages

Update: I have a meeting with someone from the Armoury tomorrow afternoon to discuss the details about running PFS there. I'll let you know how it goes.

If you've never been to the Armoury, it's a nice little place. Well-organized, well-lit, and by all accounts, well-ventilated. The seem to be pretty heavily into Warhammer, but have a variety of everything--including a very nice Pathfinder display.

Scarab Sages

My meeting with Bruce at The Armoury went well. He's definitely excited about starting up a local PFS. He wants to do it on Tuesday nights. He has a bi-weekly 4th edition D&D game on Tuesday nights, and wants to fill the other weeks with Pathfinder. This is fine with me, as I have a fairly flexible schedule and frankly, beggars can't be choosers.

We're going to set up a "meet and greet" for October 21st. This will allow potential players to meet each other (and the DM), learn more about PFS, learn character creation, etc. It was his idea, and I think it's pretty good. And it gives us 2 weeks to generate some interest and get the word out.

If all goes well, PFS will probably begin Tuesday, November 4th (go vote, then come play PFS!), starting at 6pm and run till 10pm. Bruce has agreed to be flexible and stay open another hour, if needed--they close at 9.

That's all the information I have for now. I'll let you know if anything else comes up.

I technically live in Reynoldsburg but my place is just north of I-70, right on the border.

Bruce is a pretty good guy and I think you will find he is easy to work with. He takes pride in his store and I have had nothing but good experiences in there. It is my game store of choice now.

Thanks for picking up the torch Teresake. I feel terrible about dropping that ball but I really had no other choice. My schedule just isn't flexible enough to allow for this.

Matthew Morris wrote:

Yeah, I noticed. I actually asked at one point if you were there. lol

To update, it went much better than I expected. I honestly expected only a few people to show up. I walked in, and saw a group of people gathered around one table, and naturally assumed they were running a game.

Then, Bruce tells me they're all there for Pathfinder.

Wait, what?

I made 10 copies of the PFS guide. I handed out 8. I just got home to an email from someone who couldn't make it, but wants more info.

Suffice to say, the response was much more incredible than I thought.

I don't expect all those people to play.

But I had several that either assured me they would be coming, or starting making characters tonight. Wow.

If this is the expected response, it looks like we'll need to split into two groups, and someone else will have to step up and DM. He has two tables available, and it would be pretty cool to fill the store with PFS players.

Bruce also asked if I'd be interested in running an occasional Sunday game, for those who can't do Tuesdays.

Just, wow. This is a testament to the quality of PFS.

So, first game will be Nov. 4th, 6pm at the Armoury. Scenario is to be decided. :)

and im making up a character now

Will be there.

Please not Savage Tide I ran it for my home group

Or if you get all 10+ people, maybe you should plan for ST and I can run a table?

Matthew Morris wrote:

You mean Silent Tide? Actually, it will probably be the first scenario, so that's not a bad idea. So far, it's looking like we'll be well in excess of one group.

Scarab Sages

If there's anyone who'd be interested in stepping up to possibly DM the other group, please, PLEASE let me know. I will provide you with copies of the scenarios, so no worries about that. There will invariably be some thinning out of the players, but I really don't want to turn people away from playing because I can't seat more than 6 players. If it thins out enough that player count isn't an issue, than that person can go back to playing.

And thank you, MatthewMorris, for offering to run that particular scenario. It could go a long way towards getting us started. I'm in no way assuming you want to remain GM; I got the impression that you very much want to play.

Anyone with questions about this, post here, or email me: zarffyn "at" gmail "dot" com

Tuesday we talked about the "in game" PFS and i was thinking about it today and a question came about from character back story creation.

can we assume that PFS has living quarters for some members that are young and don't have a place of their own? (when i think of PFS in game i see it like "the hero's guild" from Fable)

PFS could have
library
map room
dinning hall
living quarters
training areas
armory
sanctuary (for multiple good and neutral gods)

and more than i can think of

PFS could have...(snipped)

Because of the nature of PFS Organized Play, what a character does during his down time isn't really discussed. It's assumed they all have somewhere to stay, somewhere to eat, etc. It's never addressed. And unless there's reason to, probably won't be.

I think it's reasonable to assume that the Society offers some temporary facilities, such as lodging and a mess hall. As long as it has no mechanical effects on the character, this is fine. If something comes up in game, we'll roll with it there.

Many things, such as books, maps, etc. would probably only be available on a need-to-have basis, based on the scenario in question. There are armories and various temples located within the city of Absalom, but I don't envision the Society maintaining their own, necessarily.

Being a Pathfinder is voluntary, and most of it's members have jumped at the chance to be one--their reasons for doing so, as ever, are their own.

Hope this helps.

And who were you on Tuesday? Unfortunately, I didn't take names-but it wouldn't have helped, because I'm horrible with names. But faces, personality, and actions, those I remember.

The Exchange

i was the guy that came in about 6:30-6:45ish when you where talking about not rolling stats but buying them with a point system and was talking about making a fighter. the only other think i can think of is that when a few people left i sat down at the end of the table you where closest to.
(on your right)

new info
one of my friends that was not there wants to join

if there are any real problems with the number of people in that game ill need to know so i can talk to my bosses because tuesday is usually my day off(same with my friend)

Like I said very early on in this process, I want an organized play role-playing game campaign and not Living Barbie. Where the PCs sleep, rest, eat, etc is of no consequence to the campaign. You're Pathfinders--in all likelihood you travel so much that having a permanent residence isn't feasible. I want folks to enjoy the scenario and the experience and spend as little time as possible on housing issues and paperwork. :-)

yeah leave having issues and paperwork to DMs :P

works for me... it just says to have a backstory and i was working on one when the question came up

Scarab Sages

I created a simple, small website for information regarding local PFS events (specifically what we're doing at the Armoury, though I'll certainly post any others).

There are a lot of features, including a discussion thread. I haven't played around with it, so I don't know all the options.

Feel free to utilize this however you'd like.

Oh, and as a DM, I now officially hate Illusionists. ;-)

I'm fighting a headcold and losing, so hopefully someone can substitute DM tonight.

Also one of our players is up on the north end and was counting on me for a ride. If anyone can pick her up, please let me know.

I was so looking forward to this tonight.

I didn't check the board today, so I didn't see this. We muddled through it. At least one of the guys could contact you. I'll send you a message tomorrow at the wetpaint site regarding it, and a couple of other things. I hope you feel better. :)

Hey Teresake,

Are you in need of any more GMs for upcoming events?

If not, I still plan on coming to the December 2nd event as a player. Will there be room, do you think?

I don't think I thanked you properly for picking up what I dropped so unceremoniously. Thank you.

as it stands now we have anywhere between 8-10 players

2-clerics
1-monk
1-rogue
1-druid (with riding dog)
1-wizard (illusionist)
1-bard
1-fighter ( me )( greatsword / cleave )
1-ranger (archery)
1-barbarian (if he ever comes)

so at any one time there are 2+ seats open

I made the list only to point out that there aren't any holes in the player list as far as "We need a ________!!!!! " goes

Please please DM Allen, I'm going through player withdrawl, and I've not bought/read the next scenario yet.

Scarab Sages

Yeah, Matt is looking to trade off with someone else, alternating DM duty. So far, I'm doing good. I'm getting my game on elsewhere--this is the only place I'm DMing. Since it's only twice a month, it'll be a while before I burn out.

Would you be up for that? It would require you to DM once a month, approximately (although there are 3 Tuesdays in December...we need to find out if enough people want to game the tuesdays before and after Christmas).

Email me (zarffyn "at" gmail "dot" com). Matt's table has 5 players (1 person didn't make it last week), and mine has four. But if you agree to alternate, I'd rather you stuck in the same group as Matt, to keep a relative balance.

And next time a DM is sick, we would have a substitute!

(I, and probably every player I ran for on Tuesday, would be grateful for that.)

I am generally a fan of wizards but I must admit a rogue feels appealing right now. So I am not completely decided yet. Maybe I will make a few characters and decide from there.

I decided on Rogue, but not on faction.

Yes I like the idea of a Chel Rogue, nust not sure how condusive it will be. Might go with Taldor.

Whatever character I go with I imagine I will align myself with Andoran.

I am definitely going with a gnome wizard allied to Andoran.
