It's a long ways off before we start this AP (we're at the end of Seven Days to the Grave in CotCT right now) but already some of my players are interested in Evil PCs for this game.

I've never really run an evil campaign before, so I'd appreciate some advice regarding necessary behavior. I've already mentioned that screwing over other players is a no-no, but anything else you could suggest is appreciated.

Also, a couple of them are wondering about organizations they could use in this campaign. One of them is thinking a priest of Asmodeus, which seems fine. However, another wants to run a Red Mantis assassin, which I'm not sure about. Flavor-wise, it seems like they train for most of their life and once they become an assassin are sent out on specific missions. Doesn't seem like the kind of class to have running around free-lance.

Hell Knights were also brought up, but I think that's kinda the same situation.

Any suggestions?

Well, as for hellknights, I came up with the concept of Crusaders. Technicaly classified as Paralictors, these elite agents are given much more freedom in their duties than other hellknights (think of them as low-ranking "Specters". The order of the Nail is rather fond of this system, as it allows them to maintain a presence in the remote wilds of varisia. crusaders are basicaly roving bounty hunters, sellswords, and law enforcers. They are expected to:
1. Further the interests of civilization and order in remote areas and small towns
2. Maintain where possible the hellknight's standards of personal conduct
3. Support themselves, either through on-site procurement or entering the employ of local authorities
4. Protect innocent, law-abiding citizens
5. Cooperate with local authority where possible

Crusaders are generaly given long-term or open-ended missions, but might occasionaly be poked for specific assignments.

such as "patrol the Lost Coast area and assisst local authorities in clearing out savage humanoids and other dangers. In particular, be on the lookout for notorious bandit Shaz Bilger."

or

"Investigate riddleport's recent change in governance. In particular, the employment of mercenary guards by the Overlord. seek an audience with Cromarky to offer the services of the Order. Primarily, however, be on the lookout for notorious pirate captains and criminals. Eliminate these as targets of opportunity."
