Looking for something a little new.

Music & Audio

So yeah i am always on the look out for new music and music which is new to me. I was hoping i might get some names of artist from you guys.

As a guide line i might sort of point out some artists which i like, as a guideline. My taste sort of falls into several broad streams of audio pleasure so

electronic/Trip-hopie goodness: Lamb, Portishead, massive attack, Martina Topley-Bird, second person, miss kitten, Kid beyond, Kid Koala, Fabryka

That wobbly bit where anti-folk, punk and ska meet up: Ani DiFranco, howling bells, the levellers, through to rancid and the transplants, via the specials and the clash. Oh and billy bragg

Highend hiphop: Dan la sac vs. scrubbius pip, northern state, de la soul, the beastie boys, mos def

Aphex Twin (classic material spanning all genres of music plus the guy does loads of cool remixes for various artists).

Late of the Pier (this album has not left my cd player since I got it the track 'Bathroom Gurgle' is much topness -lots of influences including Gary Numan etc).

Kwoon (mellow goodness)

Apollo 440 (meant to have new stuff coming out soon might be worth checking out)

DJ Krush

DJ Shadow

Timo Maas (The album 'Pictures' is porn for your ears)

Fake Blood

Hadoken and various 'Nu-rave' bands are popping up all the time and there are some real gems out their.

Devils Gun (the track 'Gold Dust' is great)

More well known and current stuff like 'The Ting Ting's' is cool.

Oh and remember the Sneaker Pimps? Well that guy who did all the work in that band is going by a different name now and has made some of the most awesome lo-fi trip hop type stuff ever. Erm... google?

I just want to chime in, Zombie, and share my favorite source for new music: KEXP. This is a public radio station here in Seattle that focuses nearly entirely on underground music.

There are several KEXP podcasts to which I subscribe, but the best one is definitely the Song of the Day podcast. It's just that. A free Mp3 every weekday, chosen by the DJ's. Even if you don't care for 9 out of every 10 songs... that 2 new bands every month. (by the way... the Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pibb song "Thou Shalt..." was a KEXP song of the day last November)

Check it out.

:)
