Inspired by a comment here. this is intended as a thread to post suggested ways to prepare fantasy creatures as food for your PCs.

For example, how does one make a Troglodyte edible? How to shell Umber Hulk? Should one eat Otyugh tentacles raw?


One should never eat otyugh. <shudder>

One decidedly rare delicacy is self-barbecued chimera. The trick is to pour barbecue sauce on the unsuspecting chimera and then taunt the dragon head to breathe fire on itself.

Civilized Golarion history only records one successful serving of this dish.

Chimeran history, however, records numerous instances of barbecued humans and demihumans being served with bonus barbecue sauce on the side.


I wonder if a sea cat would make good sushi....

Certain earth-based elementals (salt elementals) are also useful for salting foods.


Always remember, when shelling your ankheg, to be extremely careful with the abdomen. Undue pressure from improper shelling can stimulate the beast's acid spray...usually with unwelcome results to your dinner setting, and possibly your guests.

Better Question . . . (especially given the death rates in some campaigns) . . . is "Suggest ways that your characters be prepaired as food for fantasy creatures."
