Hey! I just tried to register my character and when I click on the link that says Register a new character I end up at the screen to edit my messageboard settings.
Maybe I just don't understand how to register my character. I now no longer see the link mentioned above, but if I try to edit my character, I still end up at the messageboard settings screen.
Is it just me or is this link broken?

No answer doesn't really help someone with the same problem who didn't by accident figure it out.
But, for me, at least, as I am not sure what was wrong, nor what he did to correct it, that is the only response I can give.
Speculation:
Paizo message boards account created, but not yet registered for PFS.
OP noticed the code on the card he had been given, followed the register for PFS link, and was able to link the card to his account.
Remember that you need to have both a messageboard/Paizo ID, but also a PFS ID.
