flying to interecept and catch....
Suddenly the darkness violently shudders as an eery wave peels throughout the area, debris on the city floor rises and then just as sharply falls again.
The villain stops his monologue.
"What?" he ponders what power is trying to interrupt his newfound power.

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

Does this mean the darkness or some of the darkness is removed and I can see down again?
When Skater lowered himself into contact with the surface of the darkness sphere a series of rumblings began that even Supergirl can hear.
The darkness sphere hasn't faded so its still pitch black down there but for some reason the darkness is reacting to Skater's presence.

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

hmm interesting; is it picked up on by my mystical senses?
The pulsing continues as even more debris shifts and falls almost instantly.
Perturbed the villain shrugs after a moment and throws his erstwhile captive off the roof top before starting to levitate upwards...

Yea, I got really confused at that point in the game. I never understood exactly what I ended up doing. You suggested hyperspeed in your post because I didn't have Freeze Breath on the character sheet, so I said OK. I then subtracted 20 Karma, and in my mind I thought I blew really hard, I didn't connect the dots between using hyperspeed and trying to "cool him off". I'm sure I was still busy trying to understand what was going on after jumping in the middle of the game. I'm still at a bit of a loss on the use of hyperspeed being used to "cool him off". I just kinda went with the flow because I thought I looked pretty dumb the way it was. Exactly what did happen? Isn't Hyper speed just flying really fast?

Yeah the freezing bit was because there was a melting ice wall nearby however think about the supergirl movie near the end where Helen Slater whirlwinded the villainess... except into your case its a much bigger area to swirl around...

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

Ok, I'll try and withdraw the darkness from the area by flying around it superfast.
Supergirl ascends once more and begins to circle the darkness sphere, meanwhile Skater starts to scream as electricity coats the edge of the sphere sending him flying out of contact only to descend again inside the sphere disappearing from sight as unseen by anyone a figure raises itself out of the darkness and looks around.
"Only one hero? Hmph and he couldn't even stand a little lightning, how sad, pathetic really," Baron Mordo mutters as he gazes out at the rest of the city with the darkness sphere beneath his feet.
Maelidek meanwhile rushes to catch Johnny Illuminanti from his death plunge...
Maelidek make an Agility Feat check unless you want to use some other means to catch Johnny...

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

Agility roll to catch; 41 gives me a green on the feat table
You fly down and grab the falling body.
He appears to be badly beaten but is still breathing even if his clothing has been literally shredded and his face is covered in blood.Odd thing is his blood is making your magical senses tingle as if he's literally bleeding magic which is making you wonder who or what he is.
******************************************
MEANWHILE UP ABOVE
******************************************
Baron Mordo gazing around him with a cocky grin on his face that starts to slip as he realises the darkness sphere he was levitating above is slowly shrinking.
Looking down he begins to grimace.
"Those powers are now mine!" he roars as he begins to head back down again.
Supergirl the darkness sphere is definitely shrinking and you can see Baron Mordo and given your character's links to Batman you do know who he is
********************
SOMEWHERE ELSE
********************
"Ow!" Skater groans wondering where he's landed.
Unfortunately he's inside the darkness sphere and has no idea where he is...

Anticipating that the bad guy might come to see the fallen body smashed on the ground; I need to find a place to hide him and check his condition so I move into a building; with a mans life possibly on the line; i will use my greater than normal strength to pull a door off or open a window; need to move quickly and not leave any trace to follow though there is not much I can do about the dripping blood other than fly fast and not leaving a coherant trail.
"can you speak; I have caught you from your fall; I shall move you to a place where your condition can be ascertained and it would be helpful if you provided some insight as to what is going on and who was that who dropped you off a very high building."

There's enough damage done to the city for you to find an apartment to hide within.
"Ugh..." is his only reply.

I do my best to provide first aid; Dark Faire magic is mostly charms and mental stuff; so could maybe ease his pain that way, but dont have any heals or like that; so will do my best with bandages from sheets; curtains band aides; whatever I can find.
I ask:
" do you need a hospital or medical center of some kind; I can take you or find some emergency personael; but I must know what you can tell of this ongoing battle; are you in pain; I may be able to help you not feel so bad; though you will still be injured; it is up to you."

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

What do I know about the relationship between Baron Mordo and Batman? Do I know him by name as well as what he is capable of?
Batman knows him as a magician and most commonly a member of Dr Strange's rogue gallery, but also an enemy of Dr Fate with help you could probably take him but alone would be very dangerous if he can react in time.

He's passed out but at least he doesn't seem to be bleeding as badly as before.

hmm; decisions decisions; to stay and ward this one who might provide some insight and clues to the situation; or go out and meet with the others and possibly chastize the one who would drop someone from a building so high.
look out of the broken apartment and see what is happening; hmm though i could magically contact or signal Supergirl; it would probably be noticed by others and pinpoint our position which may cause more harm to this one I have just bandages; also, as he has a magic aura; am not sure how my magics would interact with him; though my forcefield and flight i will have to keep risking for my own safety.
will try to wave a flag or otherwise mundanely signal one of my comrades; and will look around to see if i need to immediately intervene somewheres else.; If one of them in embattled; I will go to there aid of course.

Supergirl |
I shall take my cape off, then using super speed, attempt to fly around the villain and wrap the cape around him multiple times and essentially tie him up. I've seen this done by Superboy before in the comics. If you rule that the cape cannot effectively stretch hopefully I would know this in advance prior to finding out the hard way, if not, guess I find out the hard way. Should be fun either way!

What you do realise is that the injured man is the centre of the darkness sphere for although the area is definitely shrinking you find it difficult to see beyond the area that marks its gradually shrinking interior.
You thought you heard someone landing but at the time wasn't looking outside so didn't see what hit nor where.

Agility feat check will do

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

Agility check is a 52% which for Amazing is a green result.
Flashing right in at hyperspeed Supergirl whirls around the hapless mage smothering him in her cape before speeding right up, his response is relatively thuggish as he blasts left and right trying to free himself unfortunately the spinning is preventing him from aiming properly but he does after a few moments free himself by burning through the cape...
Released and since both he and supergirl were in flight his momentum carries him straight down narrowly avoiding the edge of the now rapidly shrinking sphere of darkness careering off the roof of a car on the street and into one of the small shops that litter the area smashing through the reinforced plate glass window and lands inside the jewelery shop causing even more loud damage to match his swearing and screaming as he comes to a stop.
Then there's silence as the sphere finally contracts within an apartment and disappears leaving Supergirl alone up in the sky with the remains of her cape in hand looking down from the night sky at the now revealed city streets below...
It is now clear there's been more damage than when Supergirl first tried to descend within the sphere of darkness than she previously thought of course telling which was caused by her, Baron Mordo or her missing companions might take some time to tell apart except the sphere must have contracted where it did for a reason and the jewellery shop's shattered front exterior makes it clear where Mordo landed...

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

"Mess with my cape, you get one really ticked off Kryptonian!"
Flying in as fast as I can, I'm going to clock him a good one. Super punch here it comes.
Flashing in you barely stop in time as you realise that barring the now screaming alarms and the shattered displays let alone the demolished front shop window the jewellery shop is empty with no sign of the villain you had seen career into through that same shop window a moment before.
Intuition feat check please or if you have an alernative suggestion...

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

Intuition check is 59%, Remarkable, green. I shall utilize my microscopic vision and scan the area. Perhaps he can shrink.
No he's definitely gone
Unable to see him Supergirl does hear the sirens of police cars approaching the area and above it all the sounds of something thumping on the rooftops like some oversized basketball being pounded across the city.

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

Satisfied that the villain has fled like the coward he is, I will survey the area examining the damage as well as the source of the thumping sound.
Your x-ray vision spies someone that looks remarkably like a human bouncing ball heading across the rooftops towards the shattered remains of the new polcie building
And no its not Bouncing Boy

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

Attempt counterspell on the wounded figure at my feat; if my sight tell me the darkness comes from him; perhaps I can counterspell it to withdraw back into his body and perhaps this will heal him.
I cast counterspell.
The darkness rapidly congeals back within the man before you but it resists any further counterspelling leaving a small trail leaking from a hole inbetween his eyes marked by what looks like a black spot...

Maelidek the Mystic |

I examine this leaking spot using my special visions; and probe my mystic learning for any correlation of this type of event. I also try to determine how grevious this persons injuries are; if need be, I will look outside this hole into the street to look for some emergency personael; cops, parametics, firemen and the like as I am not yet a healer yet considering this battle; this may be something I need to study to be of greater assistance.

I shall fly down in front of the bouncing person (my arms crossed) and hover about 3 feet above the roof he is on.
"Oops!" the figure comes to a sudden halt even as his abrupt speech is uttered.
He deflates slightly as he lands before you."Uh, hello?" he greets you somewhat stunned his costume designed it seems to cope with his unusual abilities looks covered in soot and somewhat burned although he looks relatively unharmed albeit dirty.

ok; rolled a 78. which is yellow on the feat table; I dont know how to add my knowledges in game terms; have mystic background and occult lore.

Okay your examination reveals this poor soul has been the recipient of some macabre experiment that involved implanting some kind of mystical nexus in his head, the hole is actually some kind of artefact that allows him to manipulate the darkness you just witnessed, Baron Mordo apparently tried to steal it but for some reason most probably the fact you caught him before he fell to his death the attempt failed. All you can say is that you wouldn't have wanted to go through the same experience even if your own magical training was probably harsher and longer than what this person underwent
It appears you have somehow managed to return control over whatever artefact or magical nexus this person is making use of, his physical injuries will take time to heal but at least for now his powers are still his own.

I breath a sigh of relief; if he is not wearing or has to much iron; I will try to cast a fey emotion control spell to calm his fear; restore his bravery and confidence thinking perhaps this will awaken him.
<dont think pain is an emotion; fey magic is charm, a bit of entropy; summon lesser fey like gremlins and the like; emotion control; mezmerism and like that from the list I saw; once he opens his eyes I can try to mezmerize him into ignoring his pain as I would think mezmerizm would be abit like high powered hypnotism; correct me if I am wrong; not sure the difference between mezmerism as a spell and mezmerism as a talent as for effects; what I am ready doesnt really say.>

"Name's Pong, out of curiosity are you any relation with that bloke down in Metro City?" he asks trying to get a grip on the sight of a young woman floating in mid-air before him.
How old are you portraying Super Girl? I'm using Metro City as this world's name for Metropolis since New Proverbial is Gotham City's alternative identity

Supergirl |
Taken From Wikipedia:"In 2004, Jeph Loeb reintroduced Kara Zor-El into mainstream continuity in Superman/Batman: Supergirl.[20] She is first discovered by Batman in Gotham City Bay. Similar to her Silver Age origin, the Modern Age Kara claims to be the biological cousin of Kal-El. Although chronologically older than Superman, the ship in which she traveled to Earth was caught in a large green kryptonite meteorite and held her in a state of suspended animation for an extended period of time. While Superman accepts her claims, Batman is distrustful of her. After training her newly manifested powers under the tutelage of Wonder Woman and the Amazons on the island of Themyscira, Kara Zor-El is captured by the extraterrestrial supervillain Darkseid and brainwashed into becoming the leader of his Female Furies. Following a rescue mission led by Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, Kara Zor-El assumes the role of "Supergirl."
I had decided that I wanted to minimize her experience since I was faily unfamiliar with Supergirl's new origin. I thought that she could have just returned from training with Wonder Woman. The above paragraph says that Superman introduces her right after the "The Supergirl from Krypton" arc. As a result, I was thinking I could pick her up right before this story arc (since I don't know anything about it anyway). Essentially, she was flying around admiring her new costume before the official unveiling and she came across this "situation we are currently in". Thus it's unlikely anyone has heard of me. A different Wikipedia entry stated that she appeared as 16 years of age when first discovered by Batman. Depends upon how long you want to say it took for her to meet Batman, Superman, and train with the Amazons. So I'm thinking Sixteen? Seventeen? More? If it doesn't work to have a few adventures prior to being captured by Darkseid (I assume this is "The Supergirl from Krypton" arc,) let me know and we can go with story arc having just been completed, thus she probably was very recently unveiled by Superman to the other heroes. Whichever situaton works best for your campaign. I prefer the prior to the Darkseid event since I don't know anything about it. Let me know what works best for your campaign. I can adjust her stats in any way you deem appropriate (such as Popularity, Karma, or whatever).

Superheroes In New Proverbial |

I had decided that I wanted to minimize her experience since I was fully unfamiliar with...
Okay you get to decide, perhaps she has met her cousin and was on one of her training flights when she witnessed the explosions in New Proverbial, she's as old as you want and her background yours to decide you don't even have to use whats listed on wikipedia for any incarnation she might be another survivor who only recently arrived kept in suspension for the flight to earth and was delayed because of the explosion of Krypton that Kal-El escaped along with Brainiac, its pretty much your own decision.
