Question on Traits

Second Darkness

Grand Lodge

In the Second Darkness Companion one of the traits is called "Adopted" and says you immediately gain a racial trait, but I have not found a list of racial traits anywhere.

Does this mean to take one of the "Racial Traits" from the race description in PHB/PRPG Beta?

Racial traits will appear in many of the Pathfinder Companions to come; the next one has elf racial traits, for example. Traits are not yet in the Beta rules... they might be in the final rules next August, though.

Another question: The "Charming" social trait gives a +1 to the DC of any language dependent spells where the target does or could be sexually attracted to the caster.

Now this is intentionally a short list, but was it intended to exclude "Charm Person", which is not a language-dependent spell (contrary to my thinking)?

Opinions anyone? Official answers Paizo?

Thanks!

It's intentionally a short list, because it's supposed to be less powerful than Spell Focus (enchantment). Of course... as you add language dependent spells, or as a character who has this trait invents more language dependent spells, the trait grows better. It is indeed intended to exclude charm person, since that spell bypasses the use of language to cause others to do your bidding and does that stunt with magic. In addition, charm person's power is that it makes ANYONE who fails regard you as a friend, even if you can't communicate with them.

It's spells like enthrall and suggestion that utilize words specifically as a part of the spell itself that it's supposed to kick in on.
