Scarab Sages

The guy writing the Avengers movie for Marvel (Zak Penn) is also working on this for Fox. I always love it when Hollywood does Greek myth, but I miss the days of Harryhausen.

Clash of the Titans is being remade also.

I know. Is nothing sacred?

I'd quite like to see them both remade.

I musta watched both of them on video about a thousand times as a kid so it would be cool to have new versions of the movies. I just hope they aren't too cgi heavy and cheesy as everything seems to be these days.

There was already a Argonauts TV-movie done a few years back that was quite awful but I think Jason and Perseus are classy enough to remain unaffected -they'll be ok.

I'm kinda freaking out over all the rumoured remakes about at the moment though, I feel so old lol!

Short Circuit?!?!!?
Jaws?!
Dune?!
Robocop?
Evil Dead?
The Last Starfighter?!
Hellraiser?!!!
Escape from New York?
Conan?!
Red Sonja?
The Thing?
Westworld?!
Tron!?

It feels like some of these were only out five mins ago to me!

I love it when Hollywood does Greek myth as long as it is Greek myth and not someones fantasies....

I agree. And apart from watching them both as a kid, I own both on DVD, so I can watch 'em when ever I want.

Unfortunately they are destined to be CGI heavy. **sigh** Get Tim Burton's Claymation Squad or Nick Park's Wallace & Grommit Squad to work on them. =)

I don't mind cgi in movies as long as it's used to polish or enhance things, what sucks is when they make everything revolve around it and what're meant to be live action films with real flesh and blood people become cartoons (Matrix, Blade Sequels etc) or when it's blatantly obvious the actors are running around a blue/green screen and don't seem to react to the cgi creatures quite right (Kong).

I would rather them get around to doing a respectable Odyssey starring Sean Bean. He was the only enjoyable part of Troy.

Agreed! That would be awesome. Hell, they could even do it as two movies, or maybe a trilogy. Sean Bean kicks ass.

When they start remaking the old Sinbad movies, then I'll know Hollywood is in trouble. However, seeing a sleaker version of the bronze golem minotaur might be cool.

Making every old TV show in the world into an instantly-forgettable movie isn't enough evidence?

Tron sequel you say... Hmmmmmm? :)

Tron already had a sequel: 3 of them, in fact. (They were called The Matrix.)

The Last Starfighter! I haven't see that in ages!

And here I thought The Matrix Was the worst possible of all endings for The Terminator Franchise then again they are making the Sara Conner Chronicles ~sigh~

Yeah, just when I thought that nothing could be worse than T3. I hit the theatre hoping to see Ah-nuld, and instead I got a computer-generated image of him, flitting about the screen like Tinkerbell everytime a CGI truck hits it. And an invalidation of the entire story line and philosophy of the first 2 movies. And poor directing, and no original storyline, and no plot.

But who's bitter?

I'm still waiting for the A-Team and Space:1999 the movie. I'd also like to see the T.J. Hooker movie they were watching on the plane at the start of Charlies Angels.

A-Team is unfortunately due out in June 2009, or so I hear; John Singleton directing, with rumored cast of Bruce Willis as Hannibal (lame choice; I'd've picked George Clooney, or anyone someone less bald and squinty), Woody Harrelson as Murdoch (why not Steve Buscemi?), and Ice Cube as B.A. No idea about Face, but Aaron Eckhart would be my choice.

You ever see the SNL spoof of T.J. Hooker? Classic.
