Multi-Syllabic Anarchy!

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

As I've been reading the Rise of the Runelords adventure path and various other materials on Golarion (Gazeteer, Guide to...) I noticed that most person names contain multiple syllables, as in, more than 2.

I can't help but believe this was intentional and was just looking for any confirmation.

Am I reading too deep?

Three is an unholy number. Oh wait. You wanted something relevant.

It's not intentional, but authors DO tend to err on the side of more words and more letters, given the choice. So longer names are more common. Personally, I tend to try to pinch names off at 3 to 4 syllables when they come in over that, unless they're particularly fun or interesting or easy to say; I don't really have much against 1 syllable names, though.

Are you sure about that, James?
