Plus, the first new Epic Destiny (that I'm aware of, at least!)
Seems pretty cool, both in concept of the area, and in the included Epic Destiny.
I'm reminded of an old sci-fi show with a similiar idea. Maybe Twilight Zone, or Star Trek? Anyone else know what I'm thinking of?
Edit: Doh, I'm an idiot. Forgot to include a link.

Although I just skimmed the background info, as I probably won't use it, I like the new Epic Destiny. It's the sort of thing that I've been trying to do in campaigns for years, but now I have a mechanic.
Also, with 6 party members, we desperately need more epic destinies. Overlap seems a little lame.

You guys are already in the epic tier of play?

No, no ... in fact, we just hit 2nd level. But I have players who are already thinking about their Epic Destinies (one wants to be Aroden reborn, for example), so it's nice to have some stuff to think about as we move forward. I imagine that there will be plenty of Epic Destiny options by the time it's a going concern.

Actually, I think that the epic destiny in this month's Dragon is similar to what you'd see in the FRCS. WoTC has stated that they are trying to make material in the campaign setting books more appealing to players and DMs that run campaigns in other worlds.
True. One of the big mysteries of 4E (at least in my mind) is how far they'll really take that concept. Still, either way, I could see a generic Chosen Epic Destiny that could be used in other settings. Spellplague something or other, less so.

Being the chosen servant of a god seems like a no-brainer to me, though they'll have to differentiate it from the demigod path in some way.
That said, what I'm really looking forward to is an epic destiny specifically for warlords that will make Sun-Tzu look like a buck private.
Off-topic, I know (hey, it's my thread, I can derail it if I want to!), but I'm looking forward both to the Artifact Lord (from the 3E Epic Destiny preview) and from the Great Warrior ... like a true force of destruction, waking every so often to mess stuff up. Kinda like the Tarrasque. ;)
