My wife and I are always looking for more games we can play together that aren't FPS (since I win!) or Fighting games (since SHE wins :P). I know its probably kinda old, but we got Champions of Norrath on a whim, dusted (literally)our PS2 off, plugged it in and went to town!! What a GREAT game...even though it is the WoW universe!
CoN is literally the only reason we still have our PS2. It was the only console game I could play with my husband. (He grew up on Nintendo and can do all the twitchy game stuff; I never had anything beyond the Atari 2600 and usually get confused with more than one button.) I agree: it's a great game. I was disappointed in the sequel, however. It lost the sense of an ongoing storyline and felt much more like "Go do this level. Okay, now I'm going to pop you into this level." I've played the original several times through with different characters, but I never finished the sequel.
My wife and I played and liked this game, though we preferred the two PS2 Baldur's Gate games a little more (mainly the second one, because of the flexibility of the item crafting).
BTW, Norrath is Everquest not WoW. I only know that because my sister-in-law has played both. :)
Yeah - both great games. The sequel didn't really have much of a story, but I found it slightly more playable because of the greater range of items/secrets/etc. It's bigger, but not better.
I'm gonna have to dust them off now!

I've played GoW, but I haven't played GoW2. #1 was good, if a bit violent for my taste.
I have fond memories (and about 275 odd hours total) of Final Fantasy 10 and 12...
Auron was the baddest mofo in the Final Fantasy Universe...
I have that many hours on FF X alone. Auron was the character that killed Yu Yevon in one swing on my 1st playthrough. Next time, I built Lulu into a monster that Auron couldn't beat (a Confusion effect proved that). Ah, the good old days! Beat FF XII, didn't like it as much though it was downright beautiful . . . I could just stare at the Paraminas Rift during a blizzard for hours.
Never did all that lightning dodging for the Venus Sigil, still not tempted to do so.

They have got to be the most overused game concept out there... every single one is exactly like the other..and that stupid combat system drives me crazy.....

I'm not a big CRPGer, but they can be a lot of fun. Also, you can't tar them all with the same brush as they can be quite different from each other. :D Grandia is a very different experience from FFX-2 is a very different experience from FFII is a.... ;D
I personally feel that there are a lot more similarities and too much needless praise in 1st person shooter games. Really, apart from driving the jeeps around, what am I doing in Halo, that I couldn't in Dark Forces or Exhumed? :D

I pretty much felt the same way. I liked FFXII, and it had great graphics and a decent story, but it didn't have the 'wow' factor (that's wow not WoW) for me like FFX or FFVII.

Once you got the trick of it down it was actually quite easy to get to 200 dodges.

Cool! I hooked my wife on "Diablo" for the PS1. We graduated to "Baldur's Gate" and "Baldur's Gate 2" for PS2. We loved "Champions of Norrath", but were disappointed in the sequel. You can upload and play your "CoN" characters in the sequel, but they aren't the same power-wise. That was a real bummer.
(I hope I've remembered that correctly...)
PS We've never finished the sequel, either.

Diablo 3!? And I'm still waiting futily for Diablo 2 to come to the PS2, LOL! (Actually, there's a grain of truth in that: when D2 came out for the PC, I longed for it for PS1 and, shortly thereafter, PS2).

I got the trick of it down. The problem is that my eyeballs inevitably dry out and I blink at the worst possible time. Even in the high-frequency areas the lightning bolts don't always cooperate and come down in a timely manner for me. Maybe you could send me a copy of your save file;)
