The spellbook is a tricky matter, but I'm not inclined to make a fuss about it. I guess you'll suddenly realize that you've had it all along, somewhat like Varsuvius's familiar.
Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

Tom:

Spoiler:
For what it's worth, I was thinking ahead a bit - Sandros did grab a bunch of books out of his family's library when we were in town last time...

Leveled up a certain halfling with another level of sorcerer.

Used three hero points:

Two rolls for hit points 1d6+2=3, 1d6+2=5

Ick, those were sad rolls.

Levelled up Proteus.

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

Leveling Sandros now.

EDIT: Okay, done.
Hit point rolls, using hero points to roll twice:
hit points (1d6=3, 1d6=1)
Ouch... talk about bad rolls, Ainvar!

Female Human Barbarian 7

Leveling Ka'kara is done.

Had to reroll twice before I got the correct rolling conventions and bonuses. If I understand it correctly, we spend our hero points prior to making any roll in order to make two rolls (was trying to roll one at a time and then looking back was like that's not fair and that's not what everyone else is doing). Then I had delusions of granduer by trying to add +5 hitpoints per level (I was thinking of her strength bonus instead of her con) when it's only +3. Anyway the final corrected rolls were: 1d12+3=5, 1d12+3=12

First 2 rolls (done seperately and wrong bonus)
1d12+5=8
1d12+5=11

Second roll: (wrong bonus - sad)
1d12+5=17, 1d12+5=12

Yup, we are equally cursed -- I only faired better thanks to my CON bonus. EDIT: I just realized I didn't get a +2 for my CON bonus, should be +1. Off to fix Roylenna's hp - or to be fair to Ka'kara, I guess I should re-roll.

1d6+1=3, 1d6+1=3 BLAST IT!

Well, if there's anyone that should have more hit points than Roylenna, it's definitely the barbarian leading the charge. Shame about that maxed-out roll you had to throw out, though. Not that 12 shiny new hp are anything to cry about, mind you.

Scarab Sages

Well I survived yet another Con. I braved hoards of rampaging mutants and survived the insidiousness of Chaos. And I even managed to do some gaming... :P

I say let the kobolds have thier home back AND eat the skinny guy. Wouldn't be right to let them go hungry..... >;D

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

I just hope that this way of introducing a new character isn't offensive to thalyn. I just missed the kobolds and couldn't resist bringing them back. Kobolds are a lot of fun.

Scarab Sages

Doesn't bother me at all. In fact I think it's quite inventive. Props to you Tom!

Ooh, hadn't even considered that.

Hey, let's wrap up the role-playing and go kill something.
Or as Orcus would have it: "Less chatter, more splatter". ;o)

"They" lie like rugs.

;)

So... anything I need to know about Beta changes to the drowning rules?

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Beta rules:
If you are underwater, either because you failed a
Swim check or because you are swimming underwater
intentionally, you must hold your breath. You can
hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to your
Constitution score, but only if you do nothing other
than take move actions or free actions. If you take a
standard action or a full-round action (such as making
an attack), the remainder of the duration for which you
can hold your breath is reduced by 1 round. (Effectively, a
character in combat can hold his breath only half as long
as normal.) After that period of time, you must make
a DC 10 Constitution check every round to continue
holding your breath. Each round, the DC for that check
increases by 1. If you fail the Constitution check, you
begin to drown.

Is the water here really that deep? We are pretty close to the island.

I resemble that allegation. I really do.

Ah, you guys bring a smile to my face every time. It's like one big dysfunctional family. "I resemble that remark" is even one of my father's favorite lines. Good times...

May I just say that I'm glad we will no longer have to do the bob n weave everytime we pass this crazy underground lake?

Sandros:

Spoiler:
Have you seen the MasterAtArms material in the store here? Small PDFs, by Black Dirge, iirc. The ones I've looked at are short-duration PrCs for specialists in a specific weapon or weapon type. I picked some up on a lark while they were on major sale. There's one called the Escrimeur (spelling's probably off, my French is non-existent) that is about finesse swords - rapier, sabre, estoc.

I got it, thought it was interesting, never looked again. Now I'm thinking of Sandros every time I look at it. I might have to make a finesse fighter just to try it out.

If you care, I can share more, but I just wanted to share how Sandros is affecting my thinking...

Scarab Sages

BT were we supposed to pick character traits? I only ask because I keep seeing references to them in pathfinder products.

thalyn wrote:

No, I don't use traits. I'm not particularly fond of them. Most of them don't seem really well balanced and they are mostly specific to a campaign or adventure.

Scarab Sages

Woot! I leveled!

Scarab Sages

BT, hope you don't mind but I took a moment to level. Here are the new changes.

Hp 1d8+1 (for favored class)=4.

Gained Evasion as a new ability
Gained Scorpion Strike as Bonus Feat
All Saves went up by 1
BAB went up by 1
All skills gained 1 rank each

I think that was about it. Next level I plan on taking Agile Maneuvers, which will bring my CMB from 0 to 5!

Congratulations, Thalyn! You've certainly had to be patient to get to this point, haven't you? I also like the idea of the diminutive monk giving the giantess barbarian a what-for, by the way.

You're welcome to your new level, and I was hoping that you would. I usually enforce a day of downtime to level, but I'll make an exception for you. You deserve a break. Congratulations.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Since we've already been bumped back in sight (thanks ;)), I thought I'd profit by the occasion to ask how you're doing. Congratulations on getting us into the top 10 games here.

I noticed that posting has slowed a little but we're still going strong and I'm still having fun. Just curious about what your lives is like at the moment. Myself I have been promoted, so I'm a bit more busy nowadays, but I think I'll be able to keep this up as long as you're all game.

Thanks for a great game.

I'm still having a ball, regretting every time I don't manage to get in and check the boards, but loving the story. As you already know, my work situation has changed so that opportunities to post during work hours are virtually nil, but it's not for lack of wanting to.

Thanks to you for a great game, it's a blast.

Still here, still posting like crazy, and still enjoying the game. Might be going back to work soon, so we'll see if that slows me down ;)

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

Semester's coming to an end, which makes things nuts, but still here and still having a blast!

BT , since I check the concurrence , I saw it seems you have lost 2 players
It's still a bit early ( they could come back) but whenever you want , I can always create a character ...

Good thinking. I agree that it's a bit early, but I guess a rogue could come in handy. Or a beguiler (for the trapfinding) or whatever you could come up with.

Or you could run one of the missing characters for a spell, if you like. But I'll give them another week.

Dark Archive

I also just want to remind you that my offer from that previous Pbp still stands (Although I am hoping the two will show up having a real blast reading the adventures)

Oh yeah, you are first in line. There also seems to be an opening in the other team in case you are interested.

Female Halfling Swashbuckler 6

Either would be fine I was hoping to use Felicia again (Hate to put a good character concept to waste) so whichever one you would think would fit a bard better.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Since we've already got a halfling bard, you're welcome to join the other party. They're just following a suspicious-looking character out of Roadside Inn, so you could simply tag along if you like.

Yeah , a new halfling !

Well, then I guess a "Welcome Aboard!" is in order!

Glad to have you aboard the good ship Barakus, my good man.

Sorry about the map! I have been slammed at the end of this semester trying to get all the assignments that are due finished. Honestly, it's been all I can do to keep my head above water right now with school. I will get to it as soon as I can, which may be another week or so.

I noticed that you've been busy and I'm grateful that you've found time to keep up with the game. Don't worry about the map. I'll think of something.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Robin, you can start creating your character if you're still up for it. You'll start at level 2 with half the recommended wealth (ie 500 gp). 20 point buy and any core class/race would be welcome (and a few other negotiable).

Ok i'll begin then

If your slammed then no worries, I thought it was BT slacking on getting you updates honestly.

Dark Archive

Note to self: Don't call BT a slacker. He'll shred you with an undead bear....
