Any chance for some older style art?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I was paging thru some of my old D&D books and I realized I miss some of the old paintings and drawings in the older book.

I enjoy the new art as well, but I was wondering if we will ever get some paintings and drawings in the trippy, standstill fashion of the older books.

Any chance?

Yeah! What ever happened to Erol Otis?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

Erol did a lot of the Goodman Games stuff and just as weird as it was back in the day. A couple of the other old school artists worked on the Goodman stuff, in keeping with the retro feel of the modules. I miss that simpler look, too, where everyone wasn't bedecked with items and when wizards wore pointy hats. I kinda got turned off on the art during 2nd edition with all the big hair.

Sovereign Court

Please no retro art, it had its place back then.

Sovereign Court

Are Bill Willingham and James Roslof still in the industry? I never really warmed to Otus.

I wouldn't mind some of that old-school-style art, except that sadly David Sutherland's no longer with us and Dave Trampier apparently flat-out refuses to be involved in the FRPG industry anymore.

However, maybe Paizo ought to see if it'd be possible to commission Darlene (who's been doing a bit of work for Troll Lord recently), Erol Otis or Larry Elmore to do some artwork (with an emphatic vote for Elmore, if you can get him...) to add a bit of "old-school" feel to the Pathfinder look.

Fewer spikes!
Smaller swords!
Fabrics with texture!
Fatter gnomes and halflings!

Rock on!

Silver Crusade

I'd hate to see Pathfinder ditch its established aesthetics. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the old guards take on those aesthetics though(Elmore and the 2e painter crew especially).

With special exception for Tony DiTerlizzi. And Brom.
