You travel along the edge of the lake as the afternoon wears on. The traveling is easier here that it was in the thick of the forest, so you make good time. In the late afternoon, you come to a stream that empties into the lake.
Asther looked at the lake. "Don't you just love lakes, they are so beautiful"
Vartan takes out the map and looks at it.
"Let us fill up our waterskins here. I think we should start heading North-West now, away from the lake. We might be able to make it to the Eldest Tree by nightfall. Asther, what you you think?"

"This water isn't any like the water back at the village right?" "Oh, yes I'm pretty sure we will make it to the eldest tree by nightfall.
Vartan takes a drink.

"Wait, before we go..." Asther cupped some water in her hands. She brought it over to the fox. The fox slowly licked the water till there was none left in Asthers hand. "There ya go little guy." she said to the fox.
Thimble takes a swig of water "Eh" Thimble says "Tastes like anyother water to me."
After your drink of water you start out through the woods. Now, in the heart of the forest, the trees and undergrowth gets thicker and the going gets rougher. As the sun begins to get lower it becomes apparent that you have not made as good of time as you had hoped. As evening draws near, you stop.
" I don't think we will reach the Eldest Tree by nightfall. We had better make camp soon and hope to find the tree in the morning."
"Yeah, It'd wouldn't be the best to travel at night." Asther said
"I know how to start a fire. Whenever you get cold tell me and I'll make a fire for you guys."
Asther looks at the sky "We better camp soon, we should look for a place right now."
You find a small clearing up against a couple of mossy rocks that seems like a good place to camp.
"Yeah, It'd wouldn't be the best to travel at night." Asther said
"I know how to start a fire. Whenever you get cold tell me and I'll make a fire for you guys."
"If you start making the fire now I'll prepare the birds for cooking."
"Ok." Asther went to the nearest tree and ripped off a small piece of bark. Then she found a good fire spot and dug a hole using the bark. When she was done with the bark she ripped it to smaller pieces and spread them out for birds to use for nesting. She then got a few big rocks and circled them around the hole. She went to a smaller tree and took off a few branches. Then she places four branches in the hole in the shape of a tent. She ripped of a few pieces of bark and placed them under the tent shaped branches. She then found a few smaller rocks, held them above the branches, slid them together and make sparks, which then flew to the wood and caught fire. "There we go" she said "the fires ready"
Vartan plucks and guts the birds, then finds some straight sticks to make spits with. He puts the birds on the spits then places them over the fire, turning them occasionally.
"Want to see something cool?" Asther got up and pulled out her scimitar. She then cut a small tube of vine and carved the inside. She walked over to a small pond, stuck her finger in and rubbed her wet finger around the vine. "Here we go" She gently placed the vine in the fire. The fire turned green and blue from the vine. Asther smiled. "Beautiful, isn't it?"
Asther sat down and the little fox limped over to her and cradled in her lap. Dena was on her shoulder.
Asther sighed. "I guess I have no choice but to eat a bird." she said
Thimble reached over and ripped part of the bird off with his bear hands.Then he dug in and was satasfied with his meal."Thanks Vartan,I'll keep watch for the first part of the night."

"Good, Thimble. Asther, would you like the second or third watch?"
"I'll take third watch, is that ok? It's because I'm usually an early riser"
"Asther took off the wing of the bird and smelled it to make sure it didnt have any diseases. She ripped part of and gave it to the fox. She ripped another part of and gave it to Dena, then she ate the last part of the wing.
After dinner, you sit around the fire for a while talking softly. The night is still and quiet. After awhile Vartan, Asther, Dena and the little fox all go to sleep.
Thimble:
Thimble kicks Vartan and Asther as Thimble draws out his weapon.
Thimble then charges straight at the grass where the sound came from with his axe drawn.

As Thimble goes to kick Asther awake, he sees the head of large snake slithering toward her. It bites her right on the head and start to wrap it's coils around her and begins to crush her.
Asther takes 13 points of damage (a total of 14 down, putting her at -2, unconcious).

"Let it go, it will probably die anyway. It was just trying to feed; it is not by nature an evil creature."

He goes to his saddlebags and gets out a bottle of red liquid, then goes to Asther and pours it down her throat.
