Liberty's Edge

Dear Paizo,
I really love the Pathfinder subscription that I have. I appreciate the discounts, but I am going to have to cancel my subscription if you can't find a way to let me know at least a week before you authorize my account that money is going to be coming out of my account. The overdraft fees are not worth the discounts that I receive for the purchase of my pathfinder issues. Monthly I receive 2 to 3 overdraft fees from having Pathfinder be authorized with out my knowing that it will be done. I was told that it would only ship at the end of the month, and to day I have the authorization for July's shipment the week after I had my June shipment authorized. I live paycheck to paycheck, and the subscription discounts are the only reason that I can afford Pathfinder. Please find a way to let me know ahead of time that my account's going to be authorized, or I will have to cancel my subscription. Thanks Galuf.

We do try to separate the authorization and the actual charge by several days—note that while we've *authorized* Pathfinder 11, we haven't *charged* for it yet, as it hasn't arrived in our warehouse yet. You bank shouldn't charge you overdrafts for *authorizations* over your limit—only actual charges, so you have those days to cancel your order if need be.

However, we can't extend that gap to more than a few days, partly because some banks close uncharged authorizations after a few days, but also because the delivery schedule from China is somewhat unpredictable. (For example, last Thursday, we believed that Pathfinder 11 would be arriving *next* week, but on Friday, we learned that it will be arriving *this* week.) To restate that, we usually get about two to three days' notice that a shipment will be arriving, and that's when we have to authorize cards.

From your answer about the authorizations it looks like I probably should switch banks...
