Getting started with an Adventure Path Subscription

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Ok, we're in the middle of Red Hand of Doom right now and enjoying it quite a bit but I would like to get started with an adventure path next. We probably won't be starting anything for at least 3 months. I'm just trying to figure out...

Where do I start? Should I just wait for the next series to start and subscribe then? When does the next series start? Is there a way I can just buy an entire adventure path at the subscription rate now?

Thanks,
Dennis

You don't get the discount until your first subscription item ships. So subscribe now, get PF10 or PF11, whatever is available, then order your back issues after you receive your first issue.

Paizo might have another option for you though. :)

You might also want to look at getting the Gazetteer in the future.

You should definetlly take a look at the current AP! It contains all kinds of fine, nutritious awesome.

I can't recommend going back and getting the whole RotRL enough. I like CotCT but I'm not much of a city person when it comes to long term gaming. RotRL is now my favorite campaign, hands down.

Anyway, if you aren't interested in that then I would say wait until August and start out with Second Darkness. Use the time between then and now to pick up any background materials that you may want and just enjoy learning about the world itself. The Player's Guides are really good sources of material, even if you aren't running the AP they go with. I haven't read the Gazetteer yet, but its' on its' way, so I can't tell you about it for certain.

With Skinsaw Murders currently out of print and difficult to find, if you prefer hard-copies to pdf's, I'd say to start with CotCT or Second Darkness. The two APs that are out now are both incredible, so picking one over the other isn't so much deciding which to run for me, it's deciding which to run first. Best of luck, and I'm sure you'll love what's in store for yourself and your lucky players.

Second Darkness begins in Pathfinder #13, in August. If you'd like to start with that volume, you should place your subscription order after Pathfinder 12 ships (in the last days of July or the first days of August) but before Pathfinder 14 ships (in September).

The subscription rate is only available to people who are subscribers at the time a particular volume is released... but Pathfinder Adventure Path subscribers get the Pathfinder Advantage discount of 15% off MSRP on (almost) everything we sell, including previous issues and even other subscriptions. (Read more about it on the Pathfinder AP subscription page).

If you'd like to see a preview of the first two APs, check out the free Player's Guides:
Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide
Curse of the Crimson Throne Player's Guide

(And if you're considering picking up all of Rise of the Runelords, you'll find that Pathfinder 2 is currently out of stock, but we're reprinting it, and it should be back in stock in mid-July.)

Hey thanks everyone! I think I'll just wait until #12 ships then subscribe in the mean time I'll drool over the player previews. I'm not sure I'm going to buy the campaign setting book yet or not.

Wet your appetite with the Gazetteer. It's worth it. ;)

What is in the Gazetteer? Is it game content or just fluff?

Nevermind, bought, downloaded, browsing now.

Had me at Hello.
