If you have ever been warned or banned from Wizards... why?

Off-Topic Discussions

I recently recieved a warning for the statements "Harry Potter is for little girls" and another statement about so many useless threads basically saying the same stupid thing, or nothing at all. Anyway if you have ever been warned or banned from a messageboard, or WOTC board or wherever, feel free to share.
This thread inspired in part by the dearly departed Vomit Guy, whom i think was an exellent individual, beyond reproach...

I looked at those boards once, and immediately self-banned (chose not to participate). Not to put too fine a point on it, but everyone seemed like they were trying extra-hard to be a total dick. I get better game advise here, mostly by people who don't feel the need to act snide and superior while they're at it.

I was warned for the following post on another board. It was in response to a change on the forum.

Yay for taking away all the fun bits.

They were downing Chris Pramas over there for a very mild critique of 4th edition. I bet those posters didn't recieve warnings. I stuck up for him. I told them "I don't think Chris really wants WOTC to fail because his livelihood is somewhat intertwined with theirs etc".

I had the same experience with another D&D/Gaming forum. It had devolved into a real troll-haven. The "moderators" were just as bad as most of the posters.

There is definitely a friendlier nature to this forum, and with any luck it will continue to be so.

Huuuuurrrrrlll

I haven't been there in some time. I got sick of people splitting hairs and listened to enough rules lawyers arguing over the things that absolutely needed to be fixed in 3.x to last me a lifetime. Stuff that a good DM wouldn't even have to worry about, but for some reason they wanted a hard rules fix to solve problems I hadn't even heard of before reading those posts.

I like it here. It's like comfortable pajamas, only with ultra-cool bracers of armor.

Darn, Kirth stole my self-banning joke!

I never liked Ralph.

I got a single warning (after being baited) in the first year I was there, and then for a whole year everything was fine.

Then I had a very anti-WotC day, posting some pretty negative crap (but nothing more then what usually happens there), and I received TWO warnings in 24 hours... for the same thing!

Two different mods spotted the same thing - my using spaces to substitute letters in a 'bad word', like s__t, so I received two seperate warnings (?!) and was told "one more strike and your out".

I did that occassionally over there (but not too often), and no one said anything to me about it before. I assumed as long as I didn't use the word itself, I was safe. It appears they are going for a more child-friendly environment now.

Anyhow, that was just before they down-sized their forums (which crashed again today, BTW), so I was getting ready to leave for good anyway, and told the Mod so... I basically said "Go ahead... make me a Martyr".

I stayed away for about a week, then became semi-active again for a week, and now I just go there to check the "Ask the Designer's" thread once or twice a week. At one time I found the folks there very helpful, but lately it's just a Troll Haven with nothing positive going for it.
