Like many of you, I have a ton of PDF files kicking around. From the advanced look at Pathfinder that comes with my subscription to out of print 2nd/3rd edition modules and just adventures that I'm not sure I'll use but want to try anyways, there's a lot of electronic files on my computer. I'd like to read them without my laptop if possible, but printing them all would be so expensive and take up a lot of time and space.
Has anyone had good results from ebook readers/pdf devices? I've read some Amazon reviews and what's currently available sounds pretty lackluster; particularly on the subject of file formatting (companies may make their machines to only read the ebooks published in their format, thus making pdfs difficult or impossible to read).

I've been kicking around the idea of saving up to buy a Kindle, as the format conversation doesn't really bother me (apparently for a tiny fee they will render .pdf's into their proprietary format and send them to your device, or I could just dump them into .mobi's and usb them over), because I can't stand sitting at the computer and reading for extended periods (message boards not included). It has a pseudo-gps, which is pretty slick too.
My only real problem is:
I'm mostly buy it for the go-anywhere free web access, which has web browsing labeled "experimental," likely meaning: we can firmware this out at any time if we need to (all I really want is to do is maybe check Paizo, google mail, and see if the google chat via browser ap works).
I like to read in the tub. I'm thinking the Kindle might not agree with this. I've only ever dropped one book in my lifetime, but hey, with a $400 brick, yikes...
Honestly, I'd have to get play with one first, maybe bring a copy of Hollow's Last Hope in .pdf and see how it looks on E-Ink before leaping.
Found this video review of the iLiad, which looks slick, but is crazy expensive.
