Thought has crossed my mind; but unfortunately I suck as an artist to try and make one myself. It would be awesome to see in any case.
A few years back, Kenzer had some D&D comics that were set in Greyhawk that were great. It made Oerth really appealing to me again.

James said it was something they'd like to do but comics cost too much to produce. I've read enough of the D&D comics to know how craptastic they can be.. I don't want to see Paizo go down that road.

Now, the question is, who would the comics going to be about? My first thoughts are 'is it going to be off the beaten track and about people dealing with small, local, issues?', in that Paizo (hey, I'm being extremely optimistic here) could easily sanction it and release it worldwide if they decide that they likely the look of it, without messing with the timelines and major events which they are currently developing for their various Adventure Paths & campaigns.
My second thought is Runelords!!! Would it be possible to set it in Golarion's ancient past (which again avoids treading too much on the toes of current history & events)? There is quite a bit of information out there on Karzoug & Xin-Shalast with the first Adventure Path, and a series set in Xin-Shalast would offer the 'himalayan mountain kingdom' setting with giants, lamias, and a wealthy city, ruled by a tyrant, and with the mysterious denizens of Leng popping in and out of the story with their dealings with Karzoug.
Anyway, those are some thoughts...
Good luck Freehold DM & Firbolg. :D

Wow. Thank you very very much. I do have an "off the beaten path" idea, and I waited a few moments to post it to make sure I'm not following in the path of one of the comics I wrote. I would like to have it set in modern day, however, in a place that the Pathfinder patrons do not have any major story arcs. Even then, don't worry- my experience with Pathfinder revolve around the alpha and beta releases, as I have only read the adventures at my FLGS(and it's been a while since I've been there), so I don't think my comic would muck up the world much. Still, I'll have to go down there and flip through a couple of copies(maybe at the Borders since they have a starbucks in there where you can drink coffee AND read), and refresh/research potential locales.
For the story itself, I'm thinking of a pair of thieves (one face, one finger) getting in over their head and needing to leave town in a hurry...only they can't quite make it to past the city limits as any number of debts come calling, both old and new...I was going to call it "As Thick As Thieves". Firbolg, any idea what you want people to look like?

(EDITED to correct module details)
Freehold DM/Firbolg:
As far as I am aware the following urban locations have some details regarding them in print in paizo sources:
Korvosa:
This is the big one in terms of information out there, with its own guide in the Chronicles line, and featuring a lot of action during the 'Curse of the Crimson Throne' Pathfinder Adventure Path. It was also visited in fiction, in the Pathfinder's Journal section of Pathfinder issues #4-#6 by Eando Kline, who left town in rather a hurry.
Mike McArtor is the resident Paizo guru on all things Korvosan.
Absalom:
The headquarters of the Pathfinders' society, and so far the setting for two modules, U1 and U2, there is bound to be more information forthcoming on this city to add to what there already is out there.
Kaer Maga:
A town with a long history and some odd inhabitants, Kaer Maga features in module D2, and Eando's visit to the location is detailed in the Pathfinder's Journal section of Pathfinder issue #3.
Magnimar:
'The City of Monuments', Magnimar is detailed in the back of Pathfinder #2. It was founded by a large group who left Korvosa, during a time of political unrest, a century before the current date.
Xin-Shalast:
As mentioned in my previous post, the ancient lair of a Runelord, and long abandoned by most humanoids. It is detailed in the back of Pathfinder #6.
Sandpoint:
A town in a rural backwater, which sees some mention in Pathfinder #1, #2, #4, & #5, being detailed at the back of #1. I get the impression that it could be too small for your intended purposes.
There are probably more cities touched upon in the world gazetteer, or mentioned in modules whose details I have not yet checked. The gazetteer comes with a map of a modes section of Golarion, which might help you to select a location with the sort of environs and climate which you prefer.
Hope that this post is in some way helpful to your research. :D

I think a pair of one-fingered thieves would have a lot of problems picking pockets, opening locks, etc...
...oh right, I see what you mean, now.

Instead of having it in Pathfinder, I'd be up for Paizo putting some comics on its website. It'd be another draw and reason to keep us here. And it'd be dirt cheap.

Agreed. I'm down for writing, and so is Rockfall. Fir said he'd do some artwork. Who else is in for what?

I'm definitely in for writing, I have written a few (unpublished) comic books myself.

Three writers, one artist. We need more artists, methinks. Who can draw aroundabouts?
Also, what plots do we have? I haven't altered mine much, but I am working on characters. What do you guys have?
I've spent the last few days reading through the gazetteer and I can't stop thinking of plots. I'd love to do a story about the 'wanna-bes' who want to take the Test of the Starstone; or anything with Druma just so I can have a rogue-like character say "Just what I needed, a Drumish princess" =p

Rise of the Runelords starts with a reference to "The recent troubles." A good start to fanfic could be the prequel to RotRL, set in sandpoint, which is the most detailed of the locations so far. A cameo by a troubled young aasimar, and the unveiling of the serial killer in the town, with the climax of the story being the burning of the church...

personally I would like to see the main protagonist be a gnome... you know just a poke at 4E >;)
That's actually a great idea, Krome. It's a tongue-in-cheek move with instant backstory. Gnomes, like hobbits, are so small that they make every other threat bigger (literally as well, size contrast on the page). A gnome icon for the comic isn't going to be Hulk Smash... it's going to be a lil underdog working his way past insurmountable odds, using his wit, his wisdom, and his mighty bag o' tricks. There is great character development to be plundered there, and yet more insight into the mind of some big guy with his big weapon is just so done I just can't read that stuff anymore.

I'm authoring a graphic novel this year and I prefer heroes with a dash of complexity.

A gnome barbarian would be hilarious.
| The Jade |
A gnome barbarian will work rather well, perhaps especially so if you played it straight and kept the joke of it all subliminal. Let the absurdity of him taking himself seriously yield put downs in-story rather than adopting a uniformly farcical tone. Otherwise you've got a comic strip. I've got some old comic called Groo the Wanderer in my collection that went the farcical route. I love Sergio's art, but for me, it didn't stick to the ribs. In that genre, there was Cerebus the aardvark barbian as well.
If you keep the tone natural, the threats will feel real and cause us to fear for his safety. Then, though you can still make us laugh along the way, we'll feel viscerally pulled into the story's gravity. Bigger ups and downs, worthy of Golarian. Farce doesn't have the big peaks and deep valleys. One last caveat, humor is far harder to get right. It represents three times as much work. So, going the serio-comic route might save a lot of time.

You're writing a GRAPHIC NOVEL? Congrats Jade, that's damn cool. What's it going to be about(if you can talk about it)?
I am all for gnome barbarians(LOVE IT) and gnome characters overall, even though I think they look a little bit too much like halflings from my homebrew. Oh well...great minds and all that.
It also looks like we've got someone who's interested in drawing something OOTS style, which is great. Not all Pathfinder comics have to be dripping with seriousness- a little levity can keep the mood light and make the shadows in more serious works all the darker. To answer Lilith's question about storylines, it seems like we only have two so far- my Thick As Thieves idea and the Wanna-bes trying to break into the big time. Does anyone else have any ideas? I hope to be able to post some characters and a general synopsis soon- or should I hold on to that until someone voulenteers to do some art for something a little more complete? Ideas anyone?
Fir, where are you? I still need to see what your art looks like!

Freehold, thanks for so kindly taking an interest. <:)
There is nothing I would rather do than talk about it in great detail, but that would be my head. This is going to be a full year any way you slice it, but I am jumping out of my skin to see it done.
Needless to say, when I saw this post come up, I was instantly drawn. My mind has been thinking in terms of graphic novels for a few months now.

I don't know about anybody else, but I like to have the story in front of me before I start scribbling the characters.

Freehold, I went searching for Firbolg's art site, and here it is.

Ooops- that's not it- I thought I had gotten rid of that old site when I moved to the US!
Here's what you need.Sorry about the delay- my webhost was having issues with my site suddenly.

The bold words didn't hyperlink..what is the broadsheet?
They're not supposed to. A broadsheet is a newspaper format. A compilation of the various fan comics, maybe not in the physical format mentioned, but the name is quite catchy. :)
